Am 4. und 5. Dezember 2025 lädt die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar zum Workshop »Antisemitismus und Universität« ein. In Vorträgen und Gesprächen beleuchten Wissenschaftler*innen aus ganz Deutschland aktuelle Formen des Antisemitismus und deren Wirkung im universitären Kontext.

This decision represents a major move towards a sustainable future for the construction industry. Today, Monday, 24 November 2025, representatives from the Bundesministeriums für Wohnen, Stadtentwicklung und Bauwesen (BMWSB) and the three federal states of Thuringia, Saxony, and Baden-Württemberg signed a key issues paper confirming the establishment of a »Bundesforschungszentrums für klimaneutrales und ressourceneffizientes Bauen (BFZ)« (Federal Research Centre for Climate-Neutral and Resource-Efficient Construction). The federal government will invest a total of 52.5 million euros in this project over the next few years.

In a celebratory ceremony, the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar bid farewell to around 170 graduates. As part of the graduation ceremony, outstanding final projects were honoured with prizes and awards. The exhibition of the award-winning and award-nominated projects will be on display in the Main Building of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar until 18 December 2025.

On November 13, the online event »Alumni.Insights« provided around 50 international students with valuable perspectives on pursuing careers in Germany. Hosted by the Faculty of Media and the Career Service, the event featured three international alumni Fauziah Permatasari (Human-Computer Interaction), Lucky Chandrautama (Computer Science for Digital Media), and Aayush Shah (Digital Engineering) who shared their professional journeys and insights.

On Saturday 6 December 2025, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, together with Studierendenwerk Thüringen, invites you to the annual »Buy Yourself a Piece of Bauhaus« Christmas market. Nearly 120 exhibitors, more than half of whom are students, will be selling handmade, one-of-a-kind products and Christmas inspiration spread over two floors. Visitors can expect a festive supporting programme with fairytale films, a gingerbread building competition, and wrapping paper sales. Good teaching and good learning – how is this understood at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar?

This summer, the Senate adopted the »Teaching and Learning Mission Statement«. In this document, University members commit themselves to a positive teaching and learning culture as well as to sustainable and quality-oriented higher education based on shared values. The mission statement highlights the strategic foundations of higher education and defines a common understanding. It expresses a vision that is put into practice and benefits students and instructors alike.

Sie waren und sind prägende Elemente des ostdeutschen Stadt- und Landschaftsbildes: Bürohäuser, Schulen, Kaufhallen, rundbogige Sporthallen sowie Industrie- und Landwirtschaftsbauten in scheinbar immer gleicher Bauart. Doch welche Ingenieurideen stecken hinter diesen typisierten Tragwerken der DDR? Was zeichnet sie aus – und welche Bedeutung haben sie heute für Verständnis von Baukultur?

Spontane Ideen einbringen, offen über Hürden oder Ressourcenprobleme reden, Unterstützung unter Gleichgesinnten finden und auch mal abwegige Gedanken zulassen: All dies soll ein völlig neues Format ermöglichen, das am Montag, 24. November 2025, an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar stattfindet. Claudia Weinreich und Marit Haferkamp organisieren das erste Social Media-Barcamp und haben dazu über 30 für Social Media zuständige Kolleg*innen aus der Universität eingeladen.

Transport and logistics companies are increasingly turning to alternative energy sources such as electricity and hydrogen. Alternative power systems for heavy-duty transport will dominate in the mid- to long-term – despite high investment costs and the current lack of infrastructure. These were the findings in a recent study carried out by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The study was conducted as part of the h2-well Markthub«, which involved 143 companies nationwide.

Am 11. November 2025 um 18.30 Uhr lädt Horizonte zum ersten Beitrag der universitätsöffentlichen Vortragsreihe des laufenden Semesters ein.

Sexism comes in many forms – in everyday life, at work, in public space, and in the media. It entails discrimination, devaluation, and oppression of people based on their gender. It affects power relations, opportunities, and social participation. But it is rarely openly discussed. To raise awareness of this this issue and to encourage reflection, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s Equal Opportunity Office is presenting the »Gemeinsam gegen Sexismus« travelling exhibition in the foyer of the University Library from 18 November to 14 December 2025. The exhibition will be on display simultaneously at all Thuringian universities in cooperation with the Thüringer Kompetenznetzwerk Gleichstellung.

Die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar und die Materialforschungs- und Prüfanstalt (MFPA) Weimar laden wieder junge Talente aus Mittelthüringen ein, sich beim bundesweit größten Nachwuchswettbewerb für Naturwissenschaft und Technik zu beteiligen. Die Anmeldung ist bis zum 30. November 2025 unter www.jugend-forscht.de möglich. Unter dem Motto »Maximale Perspektiven« findet der 31. Regionalwettbewerb Mittelthüringen am 25. Februar 2026 im Hauptgebäude der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar statt.

From 12 to 14 November, the Sprachenzentrum | Centre for Language and Cultural Learning at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar invites you to the BAUHAUS4EU Staff Week: The theme of the event is »Let’s Talk About Language!«, and staff from the language centres of all ten BAUHAUS4EU University Alliance partners will meet in Weimar for the first time for a »Dialogue of Languages«. The three-day programme will focus on learning about one another’s institutions and approaches and exchanging ideas about innovative course formats for students and employees. A total of 25 guests from all over Europe are expected to attend the event and collaborate on concepts for intercultural learning and linguistic networking.

Wie gehen deutsche Städte mit verlassenen Orten um? Ein Vortrag von Prof. Dr. Frank Eckardt, Professur Sozialwissenschaftliche Stadtforschung, zeigt, wie planerische und gesellschaftliche Strategien zur Wiederbelebung solcher Orte entwickelt werden. Im Mittelpunkt steht das Konzept der »Community Revitalisation«, das die Wiederaneignung und Aktivierung von Räumen durch zivilgesellschaftliches Engagement beschreibt.

Große Ideen beginnen oft im Kleinen: Mit dem neudeli Fellowship der Gründungswerkstatt neudeli werden Studierende, Absolvent*innen und Forschende der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar ausgezeichnet, die mit Mut, Neugier und Gestaltungswillen an ihrer eigenen Gründungsidee arbeiten. In der 22. Runde des Startup-Programms unterstützt die Gründungswerkstatt neudeli erneut Menschen, die ihre ersten Konzepte weiterentwickeln und in erfolgreiche Gründungen verwandeln möchten.

On Friday, 14 November 2025, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and its Startup Hub »neudeli« will be hosting the »Innovators Homecoming« event for the first time. The new event format will bring Bauhaus-Universität Weimar alumni, students, and employees together to showcase entrepreneurial spirit and innovative drive at the University.

With the relocation of TeleVisionale – Film and Series Festival from Baden-Baden to Weimar, an active link has been established between festival activities and media studies research at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. In close cooperation with the German Academy of Performing Arts, which organises the festival, and ARD Kultur, the Faculty of Media transforms its seminar room into a festival stage.

Großer Erfolg für die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar: Beim Netzwerk-Event StarTH Together im Kontor Erfurt hat Zeinab Rahimi, Gründerin aus der Gründungswerkstatt neudeli, mit ihrem Projekt »iACT« den Pitch-Contest gewonnen. Mit ihrer Idee, die Virtual Reality-Technologie nutzt, um Sprachbarrieren abzubauen, überzeugte sie die Publikumsjury und setzte sich gegen starke Gründungsteams aus allen acht Thüringer Hochschulen durch.

This week kicks off the first of four annual BAUHAUS4EU European University Alliance-organised photo competitions. Students and doctoral candidates at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar or at other Alliance universities are eligible to participate. The theme of the competition is »Inclusive Grounds: Stories of Belonging and Resilience« and is a call to participants to see their respective campuses as living ecosystems and to look for moments that reflect the B4EU Alliance's mission in terms of its values of resilience, sustainability, inclusivity, and beauty.
