2025 Wachsmann Prize: Award-Winning Projects in Weimar

The 2025 Konrad Wachsmann Student Prize exhibition is coming to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. From 31 March to 23 April, the outstanding final projects in architecture and urban design – including four projects from Weimar – will be on display in the Main Building.

The annual prize honours innovation and future oriented designs by graduates from universities in central Germany and Brandenburg. In 2025, only six of the 68 submitted entries were awarded prizes.

One of the projects that will be on display is Nico Schmitt’s award-winning entry »Ein städtisches Haus«, which reimagines and develops a prefabricated GDR block of flats in Leipzig. Also included in the exhibition are Nina Kater’s »Stadt:Land:Franck«, an exemplary repurposing of a former industrial site in Ludwigsburg, Franziska Heldmann’s »Madonna del Monte – A Permanent Transition«, a design for an educational venue in Venice, and »Gemeinschaffende Infrastrukturen im ländlichen Raum«, a collaborative project by Denise Dilje, Anna Wagner, Felix Schmidt, and Lando Daut on social infrastructure in the rural area of Gaberndorf near Weimar.

The works engage in various ways with current issues in architecture and urban development – ranging from urban typologies to new perspectives on urban-rural relationships, transformation, and community-supported infrastructure in rural areas. The exhibition offers a comprehensive look at current architectural trends and invites visitors to explore the award-winning projects alongside other competition entries.
