The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Freundeskreis launches a fundraising campaign for students and doctoral candidates in need

There are many reasons for financial difficulties during the coronavirus pandemic: Students have lost their part-time jobs; their parents have been affected by short-time work, unemployment, or loss of contracts and can no longer provide them with sufficient financial support. It is often difficult or impossible for students and doctoral candidates with children to have part-time jobs because of the limited childcare options in daycares and schools. Also not all students have access to the technical equipment required to participate effectively in the digital semester (computers, reliable internet connections, necessary software, etc.).

International students and doctoral candidates have been particularly hard hit by this situation and they often do not have the same access to funding as German students do; many have already taken out loans in order to begin studying in Germany. In addition, they are sometimes financially responsible for their families who may be experiencing financial difficulties.

In response to this, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Freundeskreis launched a fundraising campaign at the beginning of the summer semester for students and doctoral candidates in need. The donations are intended to provide quick and unbureaucratic financial solutions for students and doctoral candidates who have found themselves in difficult situations.

If you want to help with this project you can now donate to:

Freundeskreis der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar e.V.
IBAN: DE10 8205 1000 0350 0001 07
Spende Corona BUW

For donations of up to 200 euros, a cash payment, transfer or direct debit receipt can be submitted as proof for tax deduction.  For donations over 200 euros, you can receive a donation receipt.  For a donation receipt, please send an e-mail with your address and the subject line »Spendenbescheinigung« to: freundeskreis[at]uni-weimar.de

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Freundeskreis e.V. is starting the fundraiser by donating 1,500 euros themselves.

Information for Applicants

Be sure to include details of your emergency situation and the need for financial support.Be sure to also include how the situation puts your studies at risk and indicate the amount of funding required to bridge that gap.
