2025 CHE University Ranking Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s Faculties of Architecture and Civil and Environmental Engineering Secure Top Places

Degree Programmes of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism

The results for the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Architecture show that the faculty offers a distinctive learning environment where students can fulfil their potential. The overall study conditions (which received 4.4 out of a possible 5 stars), the instructor supervision (4.3), and the support students received during their studies (4.2) were given particularly highly ratings. The design projects, a key aspect of the Architecture degree programme in Weimar, also received a top rating of 4.5 starts in a nationwide competition.

The faculty’s outstanding infrastructure, including library facilities (4.5), IT infrastructure (4.2), and workstations in the studios and workshops (4.3) were also rated very highly. Students also identified the value the excursions (4.4) and the excellent support during stays abroad (4.7) as key factors in their education. The possibility of selecting individual specialisations and the variety of projects offered are seen as particularly valuable.

Degree Programmes in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering

The Bachelor’s degree programmes in Civil Engineering received top ratings in several categories: The organisation of studies (4.4 out of a possible 5 stars) and the entire category of the university's facilities were among the categories that were rated particularly positively. This included IT equipment (4.4), classrooms (4.3), and instructional labs (4.4). The degree programme is also comparatively strong in terms of students graduating within a reasonable period of time. Students particularly praised the individualised support, the proximity to practice, and the effective organisation.

The Bachelor's degree programme in Environmental Engineering was ranked for the first time - and successfully so: The degree programme scored particularly highly in the categories of study organisation (4.6) and facilities. The support provided at the start of studies was also positively rated by the students - a strong sign of the successful conception and implementation of the comparatively young degree programme.

Ranked Degree Programmes at the University Represent Academic Excellence

This year’s CHE rankings once again prove the high quality and innovativeness of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism and the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering when it comes to studying and teaching. The extensive supervision, practice-oriented course content, and modern infrastructure provide optimal conditions for successful studies that also focus on personal development.
