International Summer Academy at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

Twelve young scientists and their mentors from the USA, Poland, Austria and Germany will come to Weimar this August for the »Media Philology 2023« Summer Academy The event will be held from 28 to 30 August in the Bibliothek Julius Petersen of the Goethe- und Schiller-Archiv and will address questions on media studies and philology.

Bauhaus-Weeks: Weimar Invites You to Join the Celebrations

From 15 August to 10 September, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, and the Kunstfest Weimar invite you to exhibitions, workshops and performances: The »Bauhaus-Weeks« begin on Tuesday, 15 August at 6 pm in front of the Bauhaus-Museum Weimar, exactly 100 years after the first major Bauhaus Exhibition. In 1923, this event presented the results of work by the State Bauhaus Weimar to the public for the first time and acted as a magnet for numerous artists, intellectuals and art lovers.

Bauhaus Summer School 2023 – An International Event Teeming with Talent

From 13 August to 2 September 2023, experimentation, learning and building will be taking over the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus once more: 215 participants from 50 different countries will be attending various one- to three-week language and tech-nical courses at the Bauhaus Summer School.

»reframing the future« Exhibition Presents all Artistic Works of the »born to be bauhaus« Project at the Schiller Museum

Starting on Tuesday, 15 August 2023, visitors will be able to experience special works of art from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, with the award-winning works of the »born to be bauhaus« art prize being shown for the first time in a synopsis exhibition in the premises of the nova space in the Schiller Museum.

Invitation to the »Bauhaus Psychologie – Workshop mit Robert Wilson«

On Thursday, 24 August 2023, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s bauhaus.medien.bühnen Lab, together with Kunstfest Weimar, invites you to a workshop with theatre director, visual artist and architect Robert Wilson. Held in the university’s Oberlichtsaal, the event will provide participants with the opportunity to explore the content and perspectives of Bauhaus psychology through lectures, film screenings and discussion panels.

FIVE QUESTIONS: summaery2023-Edition II

Who is Behind This Year’s Opening Event for summaery? To kick off this year’s annual exhibition at the Bauhaus-Universität, Frederik Sukop and Beatrice Girth get to talking about the »Party101 – Claim Your Campus« Bauhaus.Module. Frederik Sukop is one of the instructors of the Module, which is organising the opening event. Beatrice Girth is a Master’s student in Visuelle Kommunikation (Visual Communication) and a graphic designer for summaery2023. Frederik talks about how event management has changed with the introduction of the Bauhaus.Modules and what the »101« stands for as he answers Beatrice’s questions.

The three Architecture students also present the »Kommunikationsverstärker« project, which will be presented alongside other summaery20223 projects to mark the 100th anniversary of the first ever Bauhaus Exhibition.

Ausstellung »redesign campus'23« eröffnet am 13. Juli 2023

Die Deutsche Dekane- und Abteilungsleiterkonferenz DARL hat ihre 21 Mitgliedsuniversitäten aufgerufen, sich aus Anlass des 100. Jubiläums der ersten großen Bauhaus Ausstellung 1923, an einer Ausstellung in Weimar zu beteiligen. Gezeigt werden zur summaery 2023 aktuelle Projekte und Strategien zum Re-design der universitären Campusarchitekturen. Ausstellungsort ist der Kubus des x.stahl, der im Rahmen einer Ideenwerkstatt für interdisziplinäre Lehr-, Forschungs- und Präsentationsformate weiterentwickelt werden soll.

Master’s students Pauline Künzl, Lauren August Semple and Lucie Pitters are exploring how we behave in in virtual environments and the influence digital environments have on our decisions. The students are collaborating with the Department of Digital Economies and a group of Media Management students on this project.

Der Film Two Houses, 2019 aus dem gleichnamigen Forschungsprojekt an der Professur Entwerfen und Wohnungsbau entstanden, wird vom 27.7.-03.09.2023 in der Session #02 in der Ausstellung »Atmosphérique, filmer l'architecture« im Arc en Rêve in Bordeaux gezeigt. Die Ausstellung beruht auf einer Zusammenarbeit mit dem CCA – Centre Canadien d’Architecture Montréal und TRANSFER Global Architecture Platform Zurich.

»Heterotopia Ilmpark«: Artistic-Scientific Symposium Addresses Ilmpark

As part of the »100 Years of Bauhaus« centenary exhibition, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is organising the artistic-scientific symposium »Heterotopie Ilmpark. Raum für Neue Umweltästhetik«. The symposium will use Weimar’s Ilmpark as a spatial-historical basis for discussion and will address concepts of nature and environmental aesthetics inscribed therein. In this context, the Park itself will serve as the venue for some of the conference.

»The UnbearAble-Bodiedness, a sisters’ storytelling dance« – Installation and Dance Performance Combating the Discrimination of Individuals with Disabilities to Take Place Outside the Thuringian State Administration Office

From 6 to 16 July, sibings Hala and Ghida Masri will showcase their installation and dance performance at Jorge-Semprún-Platz, the former so-called »Gauforum«. With her final project, Hala Masri – architect and student of the international Master’s degree programme »Public Art and New Artistic Strategies« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar – wants to make a statement, together with her deaf sister, against normative and discriminatory structures and provoke a dialogue about how such structures influence our lives and daily behaviours.

Zum IBA-Abschlussjahr wird am 6. Juli 23, 18 Uhr die Open-Air-Ausstellung »Neue kooperative Infrastrukturen« im Landzentrum Sundhausen eröffnet. Sie zeigt die verschiedenen IBA-Projekte der Region wie auch Ergebnisse des Entwurfsprojekts ZukunftsLAND Seltenrain, welches an der Professur Landschaftsarchitektur und -planung in Zusammenarbeit mit der IBA durchgeführt wurde.
