Project description

The concrete canoe regatta is a mixture of concrete and boat building technology, sporting competition and, above all, a lot of fun. In the competition, a complex task has to be solved, namely to use the strength and watertightness of the building materials in the canoe construction in such a way that light and at the same time robust canoes are created. And then there is the task of winning the race with this canoe.

For many years, the Weimar canoeists have been among the favorites in the concrete canoe regatta. Expectations were correspondingly high that they would also land on the winners' podium in 2022. With success: All four men's and women's teams of the Bauhaus University Weimar completed the competition course - consisting of 100 meters straight ahead, 180-degree turn, slalom around two buoys and finish - in top times and won medal ranks in the self-built boats Zementa and Laminator.

In addition to the sporting competition, the condition and design of the boats were also evaluated and found to be good: Weimar achieved third place in the competition for the best construction, and the team secured fourth place in the design competition. The canoes from Bauhaus University Weimar combined the highest design standards with innovative, sustainable cement technology to create a boat with a perfect surface.

For the very first time, the team won the prestigious Social-Media-Award with the Instagram channel www.instagram.com/bauhaus.betonkanu - take a look!
