Marialuisa Capurso presents live radio performances and exhibition at Galerie Eigenheim

On 3 and 4 December 2021, 7 p.m. each day, Marialuisa Capurso, the current holder of the Radio Art Residency Weimar, will present the latest state of her work in two live performances. On 11 and 12 December 2021, the accompanying exhibition can be seen at Galerie Eigenheim in Weimar. Performances and exhibition mark the final phase of her artist residency in Weimar.

On 3 and 4 December, Marialuisa Capurso will lead individual performances and collective improvisations. These are driven by the urge to explore, heal, transform and ultimately sublimate our memories of the oppressive power of patriarchy in our bodies through sound, poetry and free expression. The artist also questions power relations within improvisation itself and explores different practices of listening and participation.

On 11 and 12 December, the exhibition »Space for Traces« will be shown at Galerie Eigenheim. Marialuisa Capurso curates the traces left by the artist group over the last two months. Projections, drawings and audio pieces come together in the gallery to open a space for questions, answers, and the initiation of art processes as a contradiction to the abusive power of patriarchy.

The performances and exhibition mark the final phase of their project »Rubedo – the snake eats its own tail«. »Rubedo« is a long-running performance with an alchemical approach: a combination of individual and collective practices structured into a series of workshops, conversations, installations, rituals and performances. Marialuisa Capurso and a group of artists with whom she has worked closely over the past two months will use the space of Galerie Eigenheim for two live radio performances and a process-based exhibition.
