Benedikt Braun
Cash Cow
Installation | 2009
Funded by the Kreativfonds
Benedikt Braun’s »Cash Cow« spits out one eurocent every minute. The »Cash Cow« is the artistic »drop in the bucket« of the lower class.
The »Cash Cow«, a large gold-brown painted iron box (ca. 80 × 40 × 20 cm) dons real cow horns on either side and regurgitates one eurocent every minute from its rectangular mouth. Displayed and firmly anchored, the »Cash Cow« offers something to every man and woman who happens to pass by, compliments of the artist. Braun continues to explore existential issues of wealth, luxury and life, and in so doing, is redefining the status of art and artists with regard to how work and money is perceived.
