In order to support projects dedicated to strengthening democracy, the Presidential Board has so far pursued two funding avenues: on the one hand, teaching projects have been funded through a special call for proposals by Bauhaus.Modules; on the other, a ‘Strengthening Democracy’ fund has been established to support a variety of project formats. This has enabled the funding of projects that champion democratic values, aim to strengthen social cohesion, and have an impact beyond the campus in collaboration with non-academic stakeholders. A wide range of formats has been combined with a diverse array of topics: from a photography project exploring multiple perspectives with young people in Weimar Nord, through research into local elections, to an AI-generated utopia developed with people from rural areas.

The large number of projects that submitted applications for funding demonstrated the broad commitment of the university community and the close ties between the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the region. It also highlights the relevance of science and the arts to important social issues. Many thanks to everyone involved!
