Die diesjährige Jahresschau der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar steht ganz im Zeichen des »PLAN B«: Welche Lehr- und Forschungskonzepte können schon jetzt Antworten auf die Klimakrise, die Digitale Revolution oder die Globalisierung liefern? Mit neuen Ideen und Lösungen, die anders und ›um die Ecke gedacht‹ sind, möchten Studierende und Lehrende der vier Fakultäten der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar gesellschaftlichen Herausforderungen begegnen. Zur summaery2024 vom 11. bis 14. Juli präsentieren sie ihre Vorschläge für Zukünftiges, zeigen die Ergebnisse des Studienjahres und laden zum Ideenaustausch an zahlreichen Orten auf dem Campus sowie in- und außerhalb der Stadt ein.

What could the future of vacant spaces look like? How can regional material cycles and sustainable construction methods be used? How can the future issues of town and country be solved? These are just some of the questions that students at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism will answer in their semester projects and exhibit at the summaery in and around the main building of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

In wenigen Tagen startet die Jahresschau der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, die summaery2024. Traditionell rotiert die Federführung zwischen den vier Fakultäten. In ihrem Jubiläumsjahr ist die Fakultät Bau und Umwelt für das Motto und die Gestaltung der summaery verantwortlich. Weithin sichtbar in großen Lettern ist der PLAN B auf den Plakaten inzwischen im Stadtraum präsent. Uns interessiert, welche Gedanken hinter den fünf Buchstaben liegen. Und was Besucher*innen auf der summaery2024 ab dem 11. Juli vier Tage lang sehen und erleben können. In a few short days, summaery2024, the annual exhibition at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, will begin. Traditionally, the role of organiser rotates between the four faculties. As this year is its anniversary year, the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering was responsible for the theme and design of summaery. PLAN B can now be seen in big bold letters on posters across the city centre. We are interested in the thoughts behind these five letters. And what visitors to summaery2024 can expect from the four-day event beginning on 11 July. Whether in Instagram or by e-mail – from June to October, students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s Faculties of Media and Civil and Environment Engineering will be offering digital consultations for prospective students. What makes this unique? Any questions related to studying and applying to study will be answered by six Bachelor’s students. This offer is free of charge and aims to make starting a degree programme easier.

On 14 and 15 June the 19th Concrete Canoe Regatta took place in Brandenburg on the Havel. Over 1,000 students from six countries competed to prove that concrete can float. Never before have so many teams been registered. Participants included: 32 Students from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Whether competition, construction or design - Weimar impressed across the board with wins in almost all categories.

Am Mittwoch, 5. Juni, wurden die Weimarer Betonkanus im Schwanseebad öffentlich getauft und erstmals zu Wasser gelassen. Nach erfolgreicher Testfahrt bereiten sich die studentischen Teams nun auf die Betonkanuregatta am 14. und 15. Juni in Brandenburg an der Havel vor. Unter dem Motto »KANUSAURUS – Aufbruch in ein neues Betonzeitalter« wollen Sie die Jury nicht nur im sportlichen Wettkampf, sondern auch mit Kreativität und Konstruktionstalent überzeugen.

Die Architekturstudentinnen Kerstin Baier, Linn Dohrenbusch und Leonie Richter haben mit ihrer an der Professur Entwerfen und Städtebau betreuten Bachelorthesis »Bahnhof Bovisa. Ein Typus der neuen Mobilität«(Betreuung: Dr. Steffen de Rudder) einen Preis im diesjährigen Nachwuchswettbewerb »wa award 2024« gewonnen. Der Nachwuchswettbewerb »wa award«, ausgelobt vom Verlag »wa wettbewerbe aktuell», lenkt den Blick auf studentisches Architekturschaffen. Verliehen wurden die Preise am 3. Juni 2024 im Rahmen der Preisverleihung an der Universität Stuttgart.

1994 traten die ersten Betonkanus aus Weimar bei der Regatta in Heilbronn an. Damals noch ohne Platz auf dem Siegertreppchen, wurden die studentischen Teams der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar im Laufe der letzten 30 Jahre immer erfolgreicher. 2024 geht erstmalig ein Boot aus Recycling-Beton an den Start. Am Mittwoch, 5. Juni, findet um 13.30 Uhr im Schwanseebad Weimar eine öffentliche Testfahrt statt.

The inaugural concrete canoes of Weimar made their début at the regatta event in Heilbronn in 1994. Back then, the student teams from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar had not yet secured a spot on the winners’ podium, but their success has steadily grown over the past three decades. In 2024, a boat crafted from recycled concrete will head to the starting line in competition for the first time. There will be a public test run of the concrete watercraft at 1.30 pm on Wednesday, 5 June, on Schwanseebad Weimar.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is hosting its annual Open Campus Day from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday, 1 June 2024. Which degree programme is right for me? How can I finance my studies? What can I expect of the city of Weimar and on campus? Employees of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and Studierendenwerk Thüringen will be on hand to answer these and other questions starting at 9 am in the foyer of the Mensa am Park at Marienstrasse 15. Visitors can obtain general and subject-specific information about study orientation at various information stands.
