Government Funding

Students in Germany are subsidised by the federal government. The government offers student financing in the form of BaföG support and study loans. BAföG is a publicly subsidised academic funding programme which international students can only qualify for under certain circumstances. The Studentenwerk Thüringen can also assist you further.

Study loans are low-interest, federally guaranteed loans to help students finance their studies. If certain conditions are met, international student can also qualify for study loans (see BaföG requirements). Study loans provide students in financial need with 300 euros a month for up to 24 months. For more information, visit this government website [German].
