IAESTE

IAESTE

The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) is the world’s largest student exchange organisation for engineering and science students. More than 80 countries on all continents are IAESTE member states.

IAESTE internships not only aim to impart technical knowledge, they also emphasize getting to know the country and its people together with other international interns and to develop foreign language skills further.

Depending on the company or institution, internships last at least 4 weeks and up to 6 months. They are either completed in the summer months or during the semester. The local IAESTE committee takes care of interns, and usually organises a comprehensive support programme and arranges accommodation.

The target countries include all countries worldwide that are IAESTE members and exchange internship places with the Federal Republic of Germany.

Prerequisites

  • All full-time students enrolled at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar under the age of 30 years at the time of application are able to apply, regardless of their nationality.
  • As a rule, applicants should have completed at least 3 semesters of their degree programme, however the number of semesters required depends on the requirements of the respective employer abroad.

Please note: it is possible to participate multiple times.

Internship duration

  • Depending on the company or institution, at least 4 weeks and up to 6 months either in the summer months or during the semester.

Funding

  • Internship remuneration (usually paid by the company, based on the living costs in the respective country)
  • Travel allowance (only available once every 2 years)

Application procedure

When and where to apply

  • 15 October to 30 November, submitted to the International Office

Application procedure

To participate in the IAESTE program and receive one of the worldwide internship offers, you must first register on the IAESTE Exchange Platform by December 15, 2019.
You can find out how this registration works and which documents you need for it in the following description (please read carefully!). In addition, please register here with a short e-mail.

HOW TO REGISTER

Once you are registered, you will get all further Information.

Procedure

The International Exchange Conference will take place at the end of January, where the internship offers of the IAESTE member countries will be announced.

In mid-February, the internship offers will be awarded to the individual local committees at the National Exchange Conference in Bonn. From this point on, the offers can be viewed and distributed on the Exchange Platform.

The application for the traineeship offers will then be submitted by mid-March. The final acceptance of the student is decided by the employer itself after receiving the student's application.
