Abstract

The environmentally friendly use and exploitation of saline water, which pollute the outfall until now is a priority to meet the goals of the EU Water Framework Directive. Besides the main task to desalinate waste water from the salt mines prior to the introduction, another point on the agenda of countries which take advantage of the saline springs for spa and bathing, is to use a damage-free and cost-effective desalination of the resulting thermal waters.

Objective

Therefore the aim of the research is to create with a concrete example of a spa facility in Hungary options of desalination of thermal waters, which reach a zero-emission concept, an additional value with a year-round bathing and health resort and a salt extraction. For this purpose it is necessary to develop a tool for environmentally friendly management of saline water, which allows for different initial conditions and changing implementation of technological components and building blocks of renewable energy in the overall system a free simulation and modulation. Ultimately the aim of this tool is to measure the economic and ecological efficiency of different geothermal swimming pools, along with a visualization of the material and energy flows.
