New Journal Publication Presented in the USA
Participation and presentation at the ASCE CI & CRC Joint Conference 2026 in San Antonio, Texas
The Chair of Construction Engineering and Management at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar participated in several conference sessions, including the Journal of Legal Affairs and Dispute Resolution (LADR) workshop organized by ASCE.
During the workshop, Markus Boden presented the newly accepted journal paper: “Regulatory Frameworks and Legal Policies in Urban Construction Logistics: A Cross-National Comparative Analysis” (co-authored with Judith Fauth and Jürgen Melzner).
The study applied a document-based methodology to compare regulatory frameworks for construction logistics, focusing on practical implementation and approval processes in Germany and the United Kingdom. The analysis showed that while political objectives for urban traffic and transport systems are broadly similar, the influence and regulation of construction logistics vary between countries. This is reflected in project-specific assessments of measures aimed at minimizing the impact of construction logistics on urban infrastructure.
The research also emphasized that standardized planning and approval processes do not automatically ensure digitalization or full utilization of cross-project benefits. Considerable potential remains to improve the efficiency and sustainability of urban construction logistics through better integration of legal frameworks and practical implementation.
The LADR workshop provided a valuable opportunity for international exchange and discussions on the intersection of regulatory policies, urban infrastructure, and construction management.
