New study on the development of BIM requirements in the public sector

At the Chair of Construction Engineering and Management, a new scientific publication has been published in the international journal Journal of Information Technology in Construction (ITcon). The paper “Information Requirements for BIM: Current Practice and Implementation in Germany” by Martina Mellenthin Filardo, Florinda Ruppert and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Melzner examines the development and quality of Employer Information Requirements (EIR) within the German BIM context.

Master's thesis on digitalisation in construction logistics receives award

Claudia Föllmer received the award from the Association of the Association of the Construction Industry, Environment and Mechanical Engineering (VDBUM) in Willingen on 11 February 2026 for her master's thesis on: ‘Analysis and concept development for the digitisation of approval processes for large-scale and heavy transport in the construction industry’.

Over 300 children excited about construction robots. As part of Weimar Children's University 2025, the Chair of Construction Engineering and Management offered young explorers a glimpse behind the scenes of their research fields on September 24. Impressed by the enthusiasm and curiosity of the future engineers, the professorship was delighted to present the program to the pupils of Mellingen Elementary School on October 1.
