Bauhaus Participation Lab public workshop
On 26 and 27 November 2025, a public workshop was held at the House of the Weimar Republic, where urban design proposals for the “Northern Weimar Station Area” could be tested and evaluated using virtual reality.
The event was the second of three planned participatory workshops as part of the “Bauhaus Participation Lab (BPL)” project and focused on evaluating the virtual realities within urban development participation processes. The aim was to gather structured feedback from participants on various planning options. Low-threshold evaluation methods highlighted the advantages and disadvantages of the options, thereby fostering dialogue within the group.
About the project:
The Bauhaus Participation Lab has been funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) since October 2023 and is led by the Professorships of Computer Science in Architecture and Urban Planning (project lead: Dr.-Ing. Sven Schneider), Urban Studies and Social Research, and Virtual Reality and Visualisation at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the Weimar Urban Development Office, the German Institute for Urban Studies (difu), Consensive GmbH and Form Follows You GmbH.
