Call for Papers: Dutch Art and Cultural History

This year, the Young Researchers' Study Days of the Research Group for Dutch Art and Cultural History will take place in Weimar from 10-11 June. The event is aimed at doctoral students and PostDocs as well as students who are aiming for a doctorate. The workshop includes a visit to the Graphic Collection of the Klassik-Stiftung and to the exhibition "The Lost Masterpieces" at Friedenstein Castle in Gotha. Abstracts (max. 300 words) in German or English, together with a short CV, can be submitted until 25 April.

Made in Germany? Workshop geplant zum kolonialen Erbe des Labels

Der Projekt-Workshop in Kooperation mit dem IRS Erkner, der Universität Gent, dem Bauhaus-Institut für Theorie und Geschichte und dem IfEU ist für alle Interessierte geöffnet. Neben der Präsentation vorläufiger Forschungsergebnisse aus dem Projekt "Conquering (with) Concrete. German Construction Companies as Global Players in Local Contexts. sollen Diskussionen über das Erbe des Labels "Made in Germany" und über dem Umgang mit dem kolonialen Erbe in Subsahar-Afrika stehen.

Recalling the Omitted: Exploring the spatial development of the modern industrial legacies in Egypt

At present, Egypt still lags behind other countries in the accelerating global initiative to document and safeguard modern industrial heritage. This is clearly visible in the vast destruction of its historical industrial structures, an action justifiable due to the perplexing official recognition of its (in)tangible witnesses. In her thesis defense, Mirhan Damir presents the case of Alexandria, a port city and pivotal node between Egyptian and global markets.

Call for Papers: Kultur-Erbe-Aneignung

Welchen Beitrag kann und sollte Baukulturelle Bildung in einer Gesellschaft endlicher Ressourcen leisten? Wie können partizipative Prozesse die Aneignung Baukulturellen Erbes und dessen Schutz befördern? Welche gesellschaftlichen, politischen und kulturhistorischen Setzungen sind baukulturellen Güter eingeschrieben und inwiefern können diese überschrieben werden? Wir möchten Sie einladen, Beitragsvorschläge für das 7. Internationale Symposium zur Architekturvermittlung einzureichen, die aus aktuellen Bildungs-, Entwicklungs- und Forschungsprojekten zur Aneignung von Kulturerbe oder von Ergebnissen aus Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprojekten im Kontext Baukultureller Bildung berichten.

Call for Papers: Culture-Heritage-Appropriation

What contribution could or should Baukultur education make in a society of finite resources? How can participatory processes promote the appropriation and protection of architectural heritage? Which social, political and cultural-historical settings are inscribed in building-cultural goods and to what extent can these be overwritten? We invite you to submit proposals for contributions for the 7th International Symposium on Architectural Outreach reporting on current educational projects concerning the appropriation of cultural heritage or results from research and development projects in the context of Baukultur mediation.
