University Assembly
According to § 36 para. (1) CL. (1) of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (ThürGH), the University Assembly is composed of the voting members of the Senate according to § 35 paragraph 3 and 4 of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (ThürGH), and the members of the University Council according to § 34 para. (3) CL.(2) no. (1) and (3) of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (ThürGH). The Assembly is responsible for deciding on elections, as well as the dismissal of the President according to § 30, paras. (4) and (9) of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (ThürGH), and the dismissal of the Chancellor according to § 32, paras. (2) and (7) of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (ThürGH). The Assembly is also responsible for the election of a provisional leader according to § 30 para. (10), CL (1) of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (ThürGH).
According to § 36 para. (2) of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (ThürGH), the University Assembly is responsible for decisions on structural and development plans and any updates that may be made. This is done by obtaining a majority vote of the members of the Assembly and a majority vote of the university instructors. Additionally, the University Assembly shall meet on an annual basis or if called upon to do so by the Senate or the University Council, in each case with a majority vote. In the cases of clauses (1) and (2), notwithstanding paragraph (1), the other members of both the Senate and the University Council shall also participate according to § 34 para. (3) CL (2) no. (2) of the Thuringian Higher Education Act (ThürGH).
The Representative for Individuals with Disabilities according to § 177 SGB IX, the Diversity Manager, the Equal Opportunity Officer and respective representatives, the Staff Council chair, and the spokesperson for the Doctoral Council are all entitled to participate in University Assembly meetings and each has the right to speak and propose motions.
