Dear exhibitors,
to ensure the success of the project show, please consider the following technical and organisational aspects. The information on this page will be continuously updated:
Celebrate responsibly
Community and Responsibility
Please be considerate and respectful toward other participants as well as our neighbors. summaery stands for openness and diversity. Discriminatory, offensive, or intrusive behavior will not be tolerated.
For each event, a person in charge must be designated who will be on-site and available throughout the entire duration of the event. Please notify Max Merkel of this person in writing in advance.
Please note: Your event is part of summaery’s public image. Therefore, please treat the spaces, equipment, furniture, and the university’s reputation with care and respect.
Registration with the Regulatory Authorities
summaery2026 and the opening celebration on Thursday will be registered with the City of Weimar by the University Communications Office. This ensures that all exhibitions and events held during regular opening hours are covered.
If you wish to hold a public event—including one open to the university community—or a party outside the university grounds or in the city outside of regular opening hours, you must notify the City of Weimar at least eight days in advance. There is no fee for this notification. The contact person is Andreas Karius (Office for General Public Order and Supervisory Affairs), phone: 03643 762 355, email: allgemeine-ordnung-und-aufsicht[at]stadtweimar.de. Here you will find information and the online registration form.
Please also register your event on the summaery2026 project portal.
Music and GEMA
If you use copyrighted music publicly as part of your summaery2026 project or event, this must be registered with the Society for Musical Performing and Mechanical Reproduction Rights (GEMA).
For the period from July 9 to 12, 2026, from 4pm to midnight, the university will enter into a framework agreement with GEMA that covers all uses during this time. For further information, please contact:

Safety and Order
Emergency and evacuation routes must be kept clear at all times. Legal regulations regarding the protection of minors and the serving of alcohol must be observed.
Noise Control and Surroundings
Please observe the legal regulations regarding noise control. Quiet hours begin at 10 pm. Please be considerate of residents, neighboring buildings, and other events.
Cleanliness
Please leave the event area clean. Waste disposal and cleanup after the event are the responsibility of the organizers.

WILD BILLPOSTING
Only use legal options for advertising with your own posters, e.g. within the university, the mensa or after consultation with the owner. Wild posters on buildings or on paid media such as litfass column are considered criminal damage to property and can lead to considerable claims for damages for which the university is not liable.
Make use of materials and guidance system
A printed map is published for the Annual Exhibition. All exhibition venues are listed and numbered here. To help visitors find your exhibition or event, you can use the following materials in the design of summaery2026:
1. Door Banner
Each exhibition location will receive a door banner with the location name and numbering to match the site plan. The summaery team will hang the banners on 8 July.
2. Project Signs
To label your project and the people involved, we provide a digital version (PDF) which you can annotate and print out yourself.
» Download project signs
3. Signs with Arrows
For wayfinding within buildings, use signs with directional arrows (pdf), which you can label and print out yourself.
» Download Arrows

In the digital catalogue, you can present your project in German and English and upload or link to videos, images, documents and other formats. In addition, it is possible to refer to events and, if applicable, to store digital access data for them.
Organise on-site exhibitions
Exhibitions and events in the buildings and on the grounds of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are possible for summaery2026 under the following conditions:

When registering your project, please select the area designation that most closely matches your desired area on the plan. Thank you for your understanding. - Tour for exhibitors in the outdoor area
Shortly before the summaery, there will be a tour of all outdoor projects with the university's security officer and the persons in charge for building services and real estate. Take the opportunity to clarify final details on technology and safety and to ask your questions. - For areas outside the university, please contact the respective owners directly.

Pay attention to environment, security and accessibility
As an exhibitor at summaery2026, you and your supervising academic are responsible for the content, security and compliance with legal regulations when creating and presenting your project.
- Copyright and rights of use for text, image and sound documents
- Accessibility
- Privacy and data protection
- Occupational health and safety, fire and environmental protection
In addition, the general regulations on safety management and the house rules of the university (German) apply.
PLEASE BE AWAWE OF THE FOLLOWING POINTS:
First: Why?
Such university events involve a large number of people. Ensuring that everyone is safe is a big challenge. It is important that we all look out for one another and support each other. We also want to avoid unnecessary calls to the fire brigade – if they are on our premises, they are not available to respond to other emergencies.
How you can help:
- Know where the fire extinguishers are.
- Know where the first aid kits are.
- Familiarise yourself with escape routes and muster points.
- Identify any emergency or quiet rooms.
What to look out for:
- Anyone who looks like they are feeling unwell.
- Smoke development.
- Safety risks.
Last but not least, avoid the following:
- Generating smoke, i.e. from smoke machines or pyrotechnics.
- Covering smoke detectors and fire alarms.
- Keeping fore doors open.
- Blocking fire protection equipment (fire extinguishers, alarms, etc.)
- Tripping hazards (loose cables, easily overlooked hazards, etc.).
- Blocking escape and rescue routes.
For questions or comments regarding occupational health and safety regulations, and fire and environmental protection regulations, contact:
Safety and Environmental Service Centre

99423 Weimar
Tel.: +49 (0) 36 43 / 58 12 10
E-mail: safety.first[at]uniweimar.de
For the use of rooms and outdoor spaces outside the university, be sure to inform yourself on the safety and hygiene regulations for the respective site. Please contact the relevant contact persons for use of these spaces.
Keep sustainability in mind
When designing and setting up your exhibition, please ensure that materials and energy are used in a resource-efficient manner. Whenever possible, use reusable, recyclable, or existing materials, and avoid unnecessary waste and single-use structures. Also ensure proper waste disposal, waste separation during setup and takedown, and the economical use of electricity and technology, as well as environmentally friendly transportation and production methods.
Rent technical equipment
When realising your projects, you can access various technical equipment via the faculties and the eLab of the University Development:
Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism – equipment lending
Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering – lending of technology
Faculty of Art and Design, Faculty of Media – Mediapoint equipment lending

in addition the Media Technical Services Team at the SCC also supports you with the technical operation of the central lecture halls and seminar rooms as well as the organisation of technical processes relating to events.
