Workshop in Thimphu, Bhutan
Within the framework of the collaborative project SusThermAssoc. Prof. Dr. Mark Jentsch of the Bauhaus-Institute for Infrastructure Solutions (b.is), Dipl.-Ing. Christoph Kulle of the area of Building Chemistry and Polymer Materials and the MSc students Tobias Bode and Toni Pauer visited the research partners of the Ministry of Works and Human Settlement (MoWHS) in Thimphu, Bhutan. The workshop aimed at gaining an insight into the Bhutanese building stock and current challenges of the building industry. The workshop was also the starting point of an intensive building performance monitoring programme that will last until November 2015 and is conducted by the MSc students Tobias Bode and Toni Pauer. The first assessment of a modern concrete stabilised earth block house was undertaken jointly by the entire team during the workshop and delivered some interesting results on the thermal performance and air tightness of this building.
