Course Overview
Construction operations, construction methods and occupational health and safety

Introduction to construction methods as well as machines and equipment for general earthwork, concrete construction, assembly construction and special construction tasks with presentation of the modes of operation as well as the calculation and costing approaches, as well as basics of construction site equipment.
Teaching of general basics for the preparation and design of construction processes: Special features of construction production; work preparation, quantity and cost calculation, effort and performance, presentation and control of processes; scheduling and scheduling control; the human being in the work process (ergonomic basics of construction operations), introduction to the basics of quality and ethics management.
Course-related evidence (as an exam admission requirement).
Integrated course (lectures + seminars).
Building Law

In the module, important legal contexts of the construction industry are taught.
Students will have knowledge of important legal contexts, the delineation of individual legal fields, the assessment of simple facts from corporate law and construction contract law in legal terms, the formulation of relevant questions to legal experts and the assessment of the complexity of technically oriented problems in relation to legal issues.
Essential focuses are:
- Differentiation of the individual areas of law
- Presentation of general legal principles
- main features of the German Civil Code (BGB), especially general part
- general law of obligations and typical contracts of obligations with a focus on construction contract law
- Basic features of real estate law
- Basic concepts of corporate law
- Introduction to construction contract law
- Teaching of the essentials of the VOB/B with reference to potential conflicts and on the basis of real case studies
- First basics of legal project and contract management for complex construction and development projects.
Basics of Law

In the module, important legal contexts of the construction industry are taught.

Risk and Chance Management

Based on an outline of five business processes, opportunities and risks in the implementation of a functional contract are explained. Both legal and construction aspects of the respective business processes are directly linked to each other through the lecture as an integrated lecture in such a way that concrete management recommendations are derived. Among other things, this also means that the participants are provided with checklists for working through problem areas and areas of activity in the respective business processes, which, in connection with the corresponding explanations, should also enable the safe execution of a functional contract.
Legal Contract Management

Introduction to legal project and contract management for complex construction and development projects, service profile of legal advisors, forward-looking analysis, preparation and solution of project-relevant legal issues, organisation and control, case studies.
Public procurement law and public-private partnerships

The lecture in the module "Public Procurement Law and Public-Private Partnerships" provides an overview of essential legal issues in the design and implementation of PPP projects.
In particular, knowledge is imparted on the topics:
- Public procurement law framework and procedures,
- corporate law structuring of PPP projects, in particular the use of project companies,
- legal issues of project financing including the new version of the Investment Act (PPP in portfolios of open-end real estate funds),
- aspects of budgetary law (in particular, requirements for economic viability comparisons),
- issues relating to fee law.
Building planning/building regulation law

The main focuses of this course include property law and development, building regulations law, protection of neighbors, special urban planning law, legal protection in planning and enforcement. Contents including the essential aspects of building planning law and building regulations law, e.g. drawing up a development plan, the prerequisites under building planning law for the approval of a building application and its enforcement, the problems under building regulations law such as development, distance areas and procedural questions concerning the building application, the preliminary decision, etc. (using cases from daily practice) are covered.
