eTeach Annual Conference 2025

The Chair of Advanced Structures, in collaboration with Professor Heinrich Söbke (Chair of Resource Management), contributed to the 2025 eTeach Annual Conference with a presentation and poster titled “Virtual Learning Spaces for Engineering Education”. The main idea which focuses on representing large-scale experiments and laboratories within a virtual environment is developed through the ongoing impulse project “EviLab3D”.

University Prize for Master Thesis

Ikrarmullah Qayyum has won the university prize for his master’s thesis titled "Earthquake Performance Assessment of a Cultural Heritage Building: Case Study of Castle Trakošćan, Croatia" under the supervision of Jun.-Prof. Lars Abrahamczyk, prof.dr.sc. Davorin Penava (UNIOS), and M.Sc. Aanis Uzair. We congratulate him on this achievement and wish him all the best for his future endeavors.

The ProTELC Science Camp for Master students has just ended after a fantastic week of discovery and exploration in Ilmenau! Participants took part in hands-on biodiversity projects and learned about innovative AI technologies, including bird song recognition. Each experience inspired new insights into the importance of environmental research.

Uzbek delegation visits the Bauhaus University Weimar

On Friday, August 23rd, Bauhaus University Weimar welcomed a prestigious delegation from Uzbekistan, comprising 12 high-ranking members from various sectors, including science, government, and construction. The aim of the meeting was to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and enhance the exchange of knowledge in research and teaching.

Students learn how to use robotic arms in practice: Fellowship acquired for »RoboTec«

Professor Jan Willmann and Junior Professor Lars Abrahamczyk have successfully applied for one of nine fellowships from the Stifterverband and the Thuringian Ministry of Economics with their project »Robotic Tectonics – Robot-based teaching and learning environment for automated construction processes« (RoboTec). Around 50,000 euros are now available for an interdisciplinary teaching format designed to teach students how to use robotic arms in practice. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has already benefited several times from the funding for innovations in digital university teaching in Thuringia in order to develop new teaching projects.

German-Iraqi Partnership - Research Stay at Bauhaus-University Weimar

As part of the ongoing project titled "Towards Earthquake Mitigation in Iraq: EMS-98 Adopted Vulnerability Assessment of Existing Buildings," a research stay in Germany was conducted under the DAAD-funded Ta’ziz Short-Term Measures 2024 program. Coordinated by Bauhaus-University Weimar (BUW) in partnership with the University of Sulaimani (UoS) and Tishk International University (TIU), the project aims to enhance the seismic resilience of buildings in northern Iraq through collaboration and knowledge exchange between German and Iraqi academic institutions.
