Siestaria: Rhythms of Rest

In the second “Sonic Talk” of the Semester, Florencia Curci and Tatiana Heuman will present their artistic research project “Siestaria”. It revolves around listening as a method for accessing transitional states between sleep and wakefulness, and for reimagining rest and dreaming as ways of resisting the logics of urgency and optimization.

Brains versus computers: same principles?

The renowned neuroscientist Wolf Singer will be a guest at the Faculty of Art and Design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 at 7 pm. With his public lecture on ‘Oscillations, waves and interference as the lingua franca of the cerebral cortex’, he will open the new lecture series ‘Sonic Talks’, which will focus on rhythm, sound and healing in the 2025 summer semester.

Broadcast: Podcast “Listening to the World. 100 years of radio art”

Radio has been a medium of listening for more than 100 years - worldwide. This is the subject of the six-part podcast “Listening to the World. 100 years of radio art”. On November 22 at 00:05, the first two episodes of the podcast will celebrate their premiere broadcast on Deutschlandfunk Kultur.

Exhibition of the New Radio Art Residency Artists

The two residency artists of 2024 are showing their work in two exhibitions. Theo Pluto presents three exhibitions with music under the title “The Pedagogy of the Oppressed”. And Hà Thúy Hằng is showing a multi-channel video and sound installation “...vớt một canh cánh chiêm bao...” (...to grab a disquiet of dreams...).

"Listening to the World - 100 years of radio art" - October Events at HKW and PAD-Festival

After three years of research, traveling, workshops and events “Listening to the World - 100 Years of Radio” is now coming to an end. But not without being celebrated! Following the successful event days at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in October 2023, which focused on the regions of South America and Southeast Asia, the upcoming program “Listening to the World – 100 years of radio art” - part 2 on October 19, 2024, will spotlight perspectives and practices from Southern Africa and other regions that are geographically, politically, and sonically connected.

Cultural Listening Techniques Around the World: A Journey Through the Transcultural Listening Map

The head of »Experimental Radio« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is publishing a new kind of website in the form of a »Transcultural Listening Map«. The Map makes the interactive exploration of international projects based on cultural techniques of hearing and listening to radio possible. Artists and researchers are invited to participate by adding their own projects to the platform.

Das Experimentelle Radio öffnet am 12. und 13. Juli eine Ausstellung "Finishing the Puzzles - Thüringen in 1500 Teilen" im kulturSCHAUFENSTER in Weimar. Die Ausstellung zeigt zwei Interventionen aus dem Semester und eine Interaktive Installation sowie Podiumsdiskussion und Live Radiosensungen, denen live beigewohnt werden kann.
