This project combines the field of architecture with media, psychology and technology to create an interactive, educational and immersive experience. This virtual interaction is based on the poem “Blumengruß” from the German author Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, which was analyzed and interpreted by the author of this project to create a virtual architectural pavilion that reflects the literary elements found within the poem. This project uses video game concepts and Virtual Reality technology (Oculus Rift and UE4) to further immerse the user in the experience. Inside the simulation, users have the ability to look around and to walk through the pavilion using several different paths (to encourage the analysis of the poem/architecture from different perspectives) while hearing and/or reading the poem. The aim was to show that exposure to such virtual journeys isn't limited to only fun experiences but is also great for learning and encouraging critical thinking among the users, who may find it helpful to comprehend abstract concepts through architecture.
