Maintaining Conformity and Staying Visible: Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Implements Affiliation Regulations

Researchers at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are required to clearly state their affiliation with the university in their publications. This reflects good academic practice and allows research to be clearly attributed, which ultimately supports the visibility of researchers and the university in the global research community. A set of regulations has been implemented that specifies how authors should properly indicate their affiliation with the university in their publications.

Call for Contributions – Ephemera_l Encounters – Queer Ephemeral Archive in the Library

As part of the course »Queering Spaces«, a queer ephemeral archive will be created in the University Library of Weimar for Campus Pride Week and summaery2025. We are seeking artistic contributions that make queer knowledge and personal experiences visible. The works will be displayed in transparent acrylic boxes, entering into direct dialogue with the library’s holdings as forms of »lived experience«. Submissions are possible until Thursday, 12 June 2025.

Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Hosts UNESCO World Heritage Day 2025

To mark the 20th anniversary of UNESCO World Heritage Day, the 54 World Heritage Sites in Germany invite you to discover and experience them on Sunday, 1 June 2025. Under the slogan »Communicate, Connect, Inspire«, the German UNESCO Commission and the Verein UNESCO-Welterbestätten Deutschland are celebrating the occasion with a broad range of activities. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is also participating. Visitors can explore the World Heritage Sites in Weimar and revisit the early Bauhaus.

Social Imagining: Researchers at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Successfully Took Part in the New »Imaginamics« Cluster of Excellence

Yesterday evening, 22 May 2025, it was confirmed that the »Imaginamics. Practices and Dynamics of Social Imagining« Cluster of Excellence, submitted under the leadership of Friedrich Schiller University Jena, has been awarded funding within the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments. This is also significant for the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, which is involved in the project through three of its leading researchers.

Science Day 2025 in Photos

What Does Sustainability in Research, Teaching, Art, and Society Mean? This year’s Science Day at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on Wednesday, 21 May, was dedicated to this question with their theme »What Does Sustainable Mean Here?«. BEYOND NOW: Between Firs and Fiction – Shaping the Thuringian Forest in the Face of Change

The Thuringian Forest is a myth, habitat, recreational area, and economic factor – but how much of it is left in times of climate crisis, urbanisation, and demographic change? What kind of future can be developed in this symbolic landscape in the former Green Heart of Germany? The »Landscape in the Anthropocene: Thuringian Forest - Between Imagination, Resources, and Reality« project is seeking to answer these questions, specifically in the Masserberg region.

2025 CHE University Ranking Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s Faculties of Architecture and Civil and Environmental Engineering Secure Top Places

The Centre for Higher Education Development’s (CHE) latest ranking recognises several outstanding degree programmes in the Faculties of Architecture and Urbanism as well as Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The general study situation and organisation as well as the university's support and facilities in particular were rated very highly by the students. The results were published in May 2025 in the »ZEIT Studienführer« and DIE ZEIT’s HeyStudium online portal.

Den Auftakt macht am Donnerstag, den 22. Mai 2025, um 18.30 Uhr im Bauhaus-Atelier ein Vortrag von Pascal Cornips vom renommierten Architekturbüro Benthem Crouwel Architects aus Amsterdam.

CITY CYCLING 2025: Cycling Together – Making a Difference Together

In 2025, Climate Alliance - the largest European city network for municipal climate protection - is once again calling on citizens and municipalities to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible within three weeks. The goal is to make a strong statement in favour of mobility, healthy exercise, and active climate protection. The city of Weimar is taking part in »CITY CYCLING« from 24 May to 13 June 2025. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be participating for the fourth time with its own team.

Brain Versus Computer: Same Principles?

Renowned neuroscientist Wolf Singer will be a guest at the Faculty of Art and Design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 at 7 pm. With his public lecture on »Oszillationen, Wellen und Interferenzen als Lingua Franca der Großhirnrinde« (oscillations, waves, and interface as the lingua franca of the cerebral cortex), he will be opening his new lecture series »Sonic Talks«, which will focus on focus on rhythm, sound and healing in the 2025 summer semester.

BEYOND NOW – PostCompost: Students Look at the Thuringian Forest Through an Artistic Research Lens

What happens when a forest changes? Students from the »PostCompost – Forest Reset« research project are examining the transformation of the Thuringian Forest with instructors Klaus Fritze-Herbst and Christian Doeller. Using artistic and scientific methods, the group is making it possible to understand how nature, landscapes, and habitats are evolving and reshaping themselves.

Produktdesign (Product Design) Students Receive Rimowa Design Prize Honourable Mention

Niels Cremer and Tom Kemter received an honourable mention at the Rimowa Design Prize ceremony on Tuesday, 13 May 2025. Their »Standalone« redesign of the traditional crutch won over the jury. The Produktdesign (Product Design) students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar received a total of 10,000 euros in prize money for their design.
