In der Lehrveranstaltung »Digitale Umwelten: Die Rolle des öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunks in veränderten digitalen Informations- und Kommunikationsräumen« untersuchen Jun.-Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rösch (Fakultät Medien), Maxi-Josephine Rauch (Fakultät Medien) und Dr. Markus Seifert (Universität Erfurt), ob und wie der öffentlich-rechtliche Rundfunk (ÖRR) dazu beitragen kann, neue gemeinwohlorientierte und demokratiefördernde Räume zu schaffen.

In the »Digital Environments: The Role of Public Service Broadcasting in Transforming Digital Information and Communication Spaces« course, Jr. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rösch (Faculty of Media) and Dr. Markus Seifert (University of Erfurt) examine whether and how public service broadcasting (ÖRR) can contribute to creating new spaces that are organised around the common good and promote democracy.

In the 2024/2025 winter semester, three Visuelle Kommunikation (Visual Communication) students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar had the rare opportunity to get to know six women who were incarcerated at the Chemnitz Prison and to carry out a photography project together. The results of this project will be exhibited on the outside wall of the Chemnitz Prison starting on 13 June 2025.

In the second »Sonic Talk« of the Semester on Tuesday, 10 June 2025, 19 h, Florencia Curci and Tatiana Heuman will present their artistic research project »SiestAria«. It revolves around listening as a method for accessing transitional states between sleep and wakefulness, and for reimagining rest and dreaming as ways of resisting the logics of urgency and optimization.

As part of the course »Queering Spaces«, a queer ephemeral archive will be created in the University Library of Weimar for Campus Pride Week and summaery2025. We are seeking artistic contributions that make queer knowledge and personal experiences visible. The works will be displayed in transparent acrylic boxes, entering into direct dialogue with the library’s holdings as forms of »lived experience«. Submissions are possible until Thursday, 12 June 2025.

Two final theses by students from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar were honoured in the national 2024/2025 »JOANES-Preis« competition for cooperative housing construction.

With one Silver Nail and two Bronze Nails as well as two additional awards, design students from the Faculty of Art and Design have once again impressed at the renowned ADC Talent Award. The award-winning projects were designed in the Visuelle Kommunikation (Visual Communication) and Media Art and Design degree programmes and display a broad range of design and content, from biodiversity and typography to collective authorship, protest culture, and philosophically motivated forms of publication.

The fifth edition of the event series centres around global survival. No transformation process will have more existential consequences than anthropogenic climate change.

The »nova space« University Gallery is breaking new ground: With the »Liebe in Zeiten der Bürokratie« (love in times of bureaucracy) exhibition, it is relocating the classic exhibition space to somewhere you might least expect it – the offices of administrative staff. Tea kitchens and meeting rooms are also transformed into exhibition spaces, administrative staff become hosts, and works of art become flatmates in everyday office life. The exhibition will be accessible at set times as part of guided tours.

To mark the 20th anniversary of UNESCO World Heritage Day, the 54 World Heritage Sites in Germany invite you to discover and experience them on Sunday, 1 June 2025. Under the slogan »Communicate, Connect, Inspire«, the German UNESCO Commission and the Verein UNESCO-Welterbestätten Deutschland are celebrating the occasion with a broad range of activities. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is also participating. Visitors can explore the World Heritage Sites in Weimar and revisit the early Bauhaus.
