On Wednesday, 31 May 2023, the Equal Opportunity Office and the Department of Human Resources Development and Health Management invite you to attend Family Day on university campus. Whilst the wide-ranging informational and entertainment programme is intended to appeal to all members and affiliates of the University, we wish to show our special appreciation for students, doctoral candidates and staff – particularly those with children or care responsibilities. Staff, in consultation with their respective superiors, can claim time spent at Family Day as working time; in this way we hope to ensure all staff have the opportunity to participate in the Family Day.

Starting at 6 pm on Thursday, 11 May 2023, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will for the first time be celebrating its student volunteers for an entire evening, offering all interested members of the university the opportunity to talk to each other in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Together we want to celebrate the voluntary engagement of students, something that is often not recognised.

Die Professur Entwerfen und Wohnungsbau lädt am 3. Mai 2023, 20.00 Uhr, zur Vorführung des Dokumentarfilms »Robin Hood Gardens« ein. Der englischsprachige Film wird mit deutschen Untertiteln gezeigt.

Erstmals haben die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar und die Klassik Stiftung Weimar gemeinsam einen Parlamentarischen Abend ausgerichtet und hatten am 26. April 2023 Parlamentarier*innen und andere Gäste aus Thüringen eingeladen, um mit mit ihnen die Fragen »Wie wollen wir leben?« und »Wie wollen wir wohnen?« zu diskutieren. Den atmosphärischen und abwechslungsreichen Abend mit vielen interessanten Gesprächen und Begegnungen hat der Fotograf Thomas Müller für uns festgehalten.

The fourth international Kultursymposium will once again be held in Weimar under the title "A Matter of Trust". From 10 to 12 May 2023, the Goethe-Institut will bring together exciting personalities from the fields of culture, science, business, media and politics, who will spend three days exchanging views on the multi-layered topic of trust in discussions, lectures, interactive workshops and artistic works. Students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are also involved, enriching this year's festival programme with short films, radio contributions and a photographic postcard exhibition.

Students at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar actively shape the university through committee work and shape the city through various initiatives. Students can submit nominations for this year’s committee elections until 14 May. Elections will be held in June.

Each year, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar announces a new Bauhaus Guest Professor. For the 2023 summer semester, the university will have the privilege of hosting Professor Jane Bennett, who is the Andrew Mellon Professor of the Humanities at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, with appointments in the Department of Comparative Thought and Literature and also in the Department of Political Science. The focus of Bennett’s work lies in political theory; her research interests include ecological philosophy, political thought in the United States, political rhetoric and belief, and contemporary social theory.

After four years, the student-organised »marke.6« is returning to Leipzig: as part of the Frühlingsrundgang of the Baumwollspinnerei, it will be presenting eight different artistic positions from the Faculty of Art and Design in the boesner project room for two days in the exhibition », dass du« (», that you«).

Die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar ist die Kulisse der neuen Serie »Irgendwas mit Medien«: Im Zentrum steht das selbsternannte Wunderkind Lennart (Mirko Muhshoff), das sich in seinem ersten Semester von einem Fettnäpfchen zum nächsten navigiert – und dabei auf Schritt und Tritt von einem Filmteam begleitet wird. Nicht nur das Medien-Studium stellt den jungen Mann vor absurd-komische Herausforderungen, sondern auch das Erwachsenwerden. On Monday, 1 May 2023, the time has finally come again: the daring pilots of the »SpaceKidHeadCup« will race down the soapbox track on Windmühlenstraße. For the 32nd time, the students of the two Weimar universities, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT, are organising one of the annual highlights in Weimar.

Am Mittwoch, 26. April 2023, startet an der Fakultät Medien die von der Professur »Geschichte und Theorie der Kulturtechniken« organisierte Ringvorlesung »Andere Kulturtechniken«. Immer mittwochs im Sommersemester 2023, um 19 Uhr, stellen international renommierte Wissenschaftler*innen neue Ansätze der Kulturtechnikforschung vor.

A century has passed since the State Bauhaus presented its work to the public for the first time in a major exhibition. The »Bauhaus-Ausstellung« (Bauhaus Exhibition), whose reputation reached far beyond Weimar, was held from 15 August to 30 September 1923 and was a magnet for countless artists, intellectuals and art aficionados of the time. The exhibition solidified the international reputation of the art school.

Im Rahmen des Projektes »GestrickeGewebeGewirke. Textilerbe repaired« finden an vier Abenden im April und Mai 2023 Lectures rund um die Themen Netzwerkarbeit, zeitgenössische künstlerische Position, künstlerische Forschung, textiles Erbe und Nachhaltigkeit im Textilen statt. Zum bundesweiten Girls' Day am 27. April 2023 bietet das Gleichstellungsbüro der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar einen Workshop sowie Kennenlernangebote rund um die MINT-Studiengänge der Universität an.

Die Professur Landschaftsarchitektur und -planung ist an der internationalen Konferenz »StadtLand - von Thüringen zu einer planetaren Perspektive« vom 4. bis 6. Mai 2023 beteiligt. Das Deutsch-Chinesische Forschungsprojekt Urban Rural Assembly (URA) und die Internationale Bauausstellung (IBA) Thüringen veranstalten die Konferenz anlässlich der Eröffnung der Ausstellung »StadtLand - von Thüringen lernen« gemeinsam im Eiermannbau in Apolda.

On Saturday, 1 April 2023, the first episode of the exhibition »POWER HOUSE« opened under the title »where do we grow from here«. Alongside representatives of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, numerous visitors from the city, the arts, culture and business, as well as students and alumni, were on hand to view the exhibition, which will grow, expand and shrink again in the future.
