Increasing Diversity, Creating Equal Opportunities, Confronting Discrimination: »Vielfalt gestalten« (shaping diversity) Audit Workshop and Call for Diversity Fund Applications
The third workshop in the »Vielfalt gestalten« (shaping diversity) audit will take place on 10 November 2022 and will be hold, fo the first time, in person. The workshop will correspondingly focus on personal exchanges. All university members are warmly invited to a World Café, which will be located in the Oberlichtsaal.
Since 2021, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has been involved in the Deutchen Stifterverband »Vielfalt gestalten« (shaping diversity) audit. The goal is to establish a culture of diversity more firmly into the university’s structures and to develop a diversity strategy for the university. The audit process will conclude in the summer of 2023 with an certificate awarding ceremony in Berlin.
The upcoming third (and second-to-last) workshop will function as a reflection on the audit and diversity process at the university so far and will be used to determine the next steps. The World Café format is intended to inspire discussions on what is working and what needs improvement, what has already happened and what should be focussed more on in the upcoming final phase of the audit.
Since the last workshop in May, a number of different measures have been implemented. The Diversity Department announced their Diversity Fund, which allows individuals to apply for up to 500 euros in funding for projects or initiatives that deal with diversity, equal opportunities or anti-discrimination (especially as it relates to the university): https://www.uni-weimar.de/de/universitaet/struktur/zentrale-einrichtungen/bereich-diversitaet/diversitaetsfonds/
Over the past six months, the Digital Accessibility work group has, as part of the »Inklusive Hochschulen Thüringen« project, added subtitles to 20 hours of video material and converted over 150 Bauhaus-Universität Weimar announcements (MdUs) into accessible documents. Those interested in learning about digital accessibility can find out more here: www.uni-weimar.de/digitale-barrierefreiheit
In addition to designated washrooms for men and women, in the future there will be »all gender washrooms« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. These washrooms can be used by people of all genders. The Faculty of Media will be the first to designate a washroom at their new home in Schwanseestraße 143 as an »all gender washroom«. Should you have suggestions on where new signage can be hung to designate »all gender washrooms«, we encourage you to get in touch.
The audit workshop is scheduled to take place on 10 November 2022 from 9 am to 3 pm in the Oberlichtsaal.
All university members are warmly invited.
Join in and contribute your ideas on diversity, anti-discrimination and equal opportunities at the university.
