Ludwig Lorenz, Master’s student at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s Faculty of Media in the Computer Science for Digital Media degree programme, has been awarded one of six fellowships from the »Future Scouts« Programme. The fellowship is awarded by the Stifterverband and the Reinhard Frank-Stiftung.
In the belief that student researchers are the »Next Generation« and have enormous potential to inspire higher education, the Stifterverband and the Reinhard Frank-Stiftung have awarded fellowships to student Future Scouts for the second time as part of the »Zukunftsmission Bildung« initiative. The fellows analyse current trends in higher education such as identifying international trends and examples of good practice They then assess their relevance for the German higher education system. The programme includes financial and non-material support.
Ludwig Lorenz is a student in the Computer Science for Digital Media Master’s degree programme at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. He is involved with, among others, the European Commission’s European Digital Education Hub and the Common Grounds Forum for improved freedom and participation in digital policy. Taking from his own experience on student representative committees, he has developed digital tools to enhance transparency. These tools include BisonWatch, an alternative course directory that makes interdisciplinary teaching more visible.
Ludwig Lorenz is bringing these perspectives to the programme as a Future Scout. Building upon his past work, he is developing a curricula companion that will allow students to plan their own individualised learning paths – even beyond the boundaries of their home universities. His goal is to support structures that strengthen student-based curricula, transparency, and cooperative educational offers in higher education in a sustainable way.
We congratulate Ludwig Lorenz on this award and are delighted that his commitment and innovative ideas are bringing widespread attention to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
