Researchers from the Faculty of Art and Design with »Digitaler Orthetik« (Digital Orthotics) at Hannover Messe
The aim of the project is to explore the potential of novel, digital design and fabrication processes in the field of body-related care solutions. The main field of development and investigation is the foot/ankle area and in particular diabetic foot syndrome, which is treated by means of additively manufactured moulded orthoses, including outsoles.
For this purpose, the body part is precisely recorded by means of a 3D scan and the data obtained is algorithmically processed in a virtual design environment. The resulting components are individually adapted to the patient and manufactured using MJF 3D printing. Together with the practice partner Rosenkranz Scherer GmbH, a continuous digital process chain is being developed in this way, which provides for both basic design and manufacturing procedures and corresponding possible applications in the field of innovative, orthotic care.
