Renowned JANUS Award Presented to Weimar Student at International FullDome Festival

Lilian Fuchs, Media Art and Design student at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, was honoured with the JANUS Award in the »Best Emerging Artist« category during the 20th International FullDome Festival at the Zeiss-Planetarium Jena. Fuchs received the internationally renowned award for her 360° film »Remaining«. Four additional student productions from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar were also included in the Festival programme.

Lilian Fuchs impressed the international jury with her début film »Remaining«. The 360° film was created as part of the »ET-Phenomena reflected in Immersive Media« project, supervised by Honorary Professor Micky Remann together with lecturers Mohammad Jaradat and Kate Ledina. The award includes a cash prize of 300 euros.

In their statement, the jury praised the film’s extraordinary visual language and narrative approach:

»A journey aboard a bright pink Rococo spaceship in search of eternal happiness doesn’t go quite as expected. The film takes viewers on an entertaining, enchanting, and whimsical journey raising philosophical questions on human existence along the way. A wealth of stunning visual elements captivates the audience in this début work for the FullDome format.«

Alongside »Remaining«, four other student productions from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar were featured in the Festival programme: »Queer the Dome« by Xenia Günther and the QTD-Class (Bauhaus.Module), »Not Yet« by Maria Anina Bering Christiansen, »How did we get to Earth?« by Jennifer Alice Soggia, and »Internal Orbit« by Hannah Uhlmann.

The international film community gathered at the newly renovated Zeiss-Planetarium Jena from 15 to 17 July to recognise the latest 360° immersive film productions. The FullDome Festival is one of the most important international events of its kind with its JANUS Award bestowing one of the most prestigious honours in the FullDome scene.
