From 24 to 26 March 2023, the 7th International Symposium on Architectural Outreach will be held on the campus of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Depending on the pandemic situation, the event may also take place hybrid or online.
Within the framework of the symposium, we want to ask what contribution architectural education can and should make in a society of finite resources? How can participatory processes promote the appropriation and protection of architectural heritage? What social, political and cultural-historical conditions are inscribed in architectural heritage and to what extent can these be overridden?
Participants can expect contributions from current education, development and research projects on the appropriation of cultural heritage or from the results of research and development projects in the context of Baukultureller Bildung. In addition to the question of the concept of heritage or of appropriation and participation processes in public space, studies on sustainable materials in building renovation, on inscriptions in architecture as a medium, on the virtual mediation of building culture as well as other topics can be negotiated in an interdisciplinary discourse.
The symposium will begin on Friday, 24 March 2023 with an official welcome in the early afternoon and end on Sunday noon, 26 March 2023. The symposium is intended to provide space for theory-led critical discussions as well as for the presentation of practical educational projects and networking among participants.
