Project description

The direct arrival at the site of the sailing school at the Bleilochtalsperre also describes the interface between two building volumes that define this design. The two-storey clubhouse with the hostel below is placed on a direct axis towards the water. The boathouse is a single-storey structure parallel to the water's edge. During competition phases in the warmer seasons, the changing rooms of the boat hall, the multi-purpose room and the storage hall with workshop provide space for intensive regatta operations. The basic construction consists of modular wooden frame girders that can be joined additively. As double-tensioned Polonceau girders made of metal connections, they support the load-bearing structure with tension cable connections and bracing elements. Local spruce and larch wood for structural timbers and façade panelling, as well as river gneiss as plinth material, come from the Thuringian Forest. The framed view of the lake is strongly in the foreground, especially in the context of the club hall and the common rooms. Large, vertical window openings allow for visual transparency to the outside and create a sense of openness and continuity between the interior and the surrounding nature. Numerous groups of users can experience the Turbine Bleiloch sailing school here as a place that will be remembered as a meeting place for school classes, seminar groups, sports teams and sailing enthusiasts.
