Van de Velde’s Architecture Meshes with Sound and Image
The façade projection festival Genius Loci Weimar will take place for the second time, from 9 August to 11 August 2013. This year, the festival is taking its inspiration from the architecture of Henry van de Velde. With its concise atelier windows and as the birthplace of the Bauhaus, the Main Building of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is one of the most famous buildings in the city and has served as a place of work and as a workshop for generations of architects and artists for over 100 years.
Artists selected from an international competition will bring the building to life with projections that match the structure down to the millimetre. A soundtrack composed specifically for the projection will fuse building and visuals into one work of art. Visitors will enjoy a fascinating nightly spectacle that enchanted scores of guests in 2012.
