Project description

Our bodies are under observation! Consciously or unconsciously, we generate data and create our data bodies. What is healthy and right, what is wrong and sick - is defined on the basis of body data. Although the creation of data is often invisible we have trust in what the devices present to us. The atlas of the data bodies shows alternative approaches to body measurement and thus encourages questioning the authority of fitness trackers and co.

In the seminar, the visualization of bodies and body data was researched. For this purpose, historical and recent instruments for body measurement and representation were examined and tools were developed. The aim of the seminar was to examine the mechanism of the technical-media construction of body images through an artistic, creative approach. By developing our own, absurd and ironic measuring devices, objectivity concepts and norms with regard to corporeality should be questioned.
