The power consumption of smartphones, PCs and server systems is steadily increasing, thus contributing significantly to climate change. In our Green Configurator II project, we are determined to make it easier to design computers in terms of energy consumption.
In order to plan a computer that can do its job with minimal energy consumption, we need to know how different configurations of hardware and software affect its energy demand. To do this, we measure the power consumption of computers with two different measurement systems. Then we can learn a model that we can use to give users recommendations on how to optimize their planned computer.
