Software systems are becoming more and more complex. Development and maintenance requires a comprehensive understanding of the system in terms of its functionality and non-functional properties, such as performance and energy consumption. In order to improve this understanding, tools and visualizations have been developed that represent certain properties of the software on 2D projection surfaces.
We now go one step further and combine these technologies in the almost unlimited space of virtual reality. The 3rd dimension enables us to bring together the most diverse properties of software systems, so that we can make software 'tangible' and even more complex relationships can be represented and analyzed. Whole teams of developers can 'walk' through your software projects together in virtual space from different places. This immersive experience will help to break down performance problems into single code regions, illustrate the influence of features and configuration options and at the same time to visualize the overall overview of energy consumption.
