Project description

The Climate change is progressing and the maximum temperatures are already rising noticeably, especially in densely populated cities. It is to be feared that the climate policy's goal of maximum global warming of 1.5 degrees Celsius will be surpassed significantly, critical levels will be achieved. At a temperature of 112 degrees Fahrenheit or 44.4 degrees Celsius, e.g. Protein begins to denature.


 


To remedy the situation without the help of machine-operated cooling technology, a large number of urban planning and architectural CO2-neutral measures are required. As has been proved, large-scale planting of trees, shrubs, vegetables, fruits, etc. could play an essential role.


 


Since the available space for this purpose is usually very limited in inner city areas, the creation of superimposed areas in the sense of a vertical, green condensation seems inevitable. The purpose of this project is to explore the possibilities of implementing such a concept for the city of Milan. For suitable open space, new ‘green-rise buildings’ have to be designed or existing buildings have to be redesigned and optimized for a positive climatic effect.
