»Allianz Thüringer Ingenieurwissenschaften« Second Science Camp Dedicated to Topic of Sustainability

The »Allianz Thüringer Ingenieurwissenschaften« Master Science Camp ‘22 will take place at the Hochschule Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences in a cooperation with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar from 29 August to 2 September. For one week, 35 Master’s students from the seven »Allianz THÜR ING« member universities will work together in interdisciplinary teams on sustainability-related engineering topics.

The »Allianz THÜR ING« organises a Science Camp each semester at various locations. These camps give students the opportunity to tackle critical issues from outside of their regular curriculum and to network with local businesses. The event also includes exciting lectures and focusses on experimentation, trying things out and, of course, enjoying experiencing the topic.

Once students have familiarised themselves with the topic of sustainability through online course and have developed project ideas together with industry partners, the focus shifts to »doing« in the week of 29 August to 2 September 2022. Extensive practical work is to be accompanied by special lectures, such as that offered by Dipl.-Ing Carsten Heise on energy efficient communication and data economy, or by Prof. Dr. Sven Müller-Grune from the Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences on corporate social responsibility. There will of course also be plenty of opportunities for students to get together and grill or head out on joint excursions.

As the week comes to a close, the project ideas will be presented to an audience in short pitches and prizes will be awarded.

Similar Science Camps will be held in the future at other »Allianz THÜR ING« member locations, playing a key role in the ProTELC (Pro Thuringian Engineering Life Cycle) project. The next Camp is scheduled to take place in spring 2023. Five students from each university should work together in mixed teams on current industrial issues. Joint courses are held at the universities to prepare students for the Science Camps.

Science Camps (Bauhaus-Universität Weimar) coordination: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lars Abrahamczyk & Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Koch

Content (Hochschule Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences): Fabian Dost & Eva Knahl
