Members of the BAUHAUS4EU European University Alliance to Meet for the First Time in March to Launch Project

Ten universities in nine European countries: The EU-funded »BAUHAUS4EU« Alliance launched at the beginning of January. The transnational cooperation, led by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, is aiming to develop innovative digital teaching formats and strengthen internationalisation. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, as project leader, has invited over 70 participants from all over Europe to a kick-off meeting in Weimar from 11 to 13 March.

Two Houses | Film und Gespräch am 4. März in Rom

Das Goethe-Institut Rom und die Deutsche Akademie Rom Villa Massimo präsentieren in einer Abendveranstaltung mit Verena von Beckerath, Rompreisträgerin Villa Massimo 2013, den Film Two Houses. Im Anschluss findet ein Gespräch in englischer Sprache zwischen Verena von Beckerath und den Architektinnen Claudia Clemente, Almut Grüntuch-Ernst und Simona Malvezzi statt. Dabei wird es um die Möglichkeiten künstlerischer Forschung in der Architektur, die narrative Perspektive des Films und Orte der Gemeinschaft gehen. Das Gespräch wird von Julia Trolp moderiert.

Rekordbeteiligung bei der Bauhaus Spring School 2025

Vom 27. Februar bis 7. März bringt die Bauhaus Spring School zum vierten Mal Studierende aus ganz Europa zusammen: Mit 226 Teilnehmenden der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar und ihrer europäischen Partneruniversitäten verzeichnet das internationale Kurzzeitprogramm in diesem Jahr so viele Anmeldungen wie noch nie. In zehn interdisziplinären Kursen aus den Bereichen Architektur und Urbanistik, Kunst und Gestaltung sowie Medien und Kultur haben die Studierenden die Möglichkeit, kreativ zusammenzuarbeiten und sich interkulturell zu vernetzen. Zur Abschlusspräsentation am 7. März, ab 14 Uhr, sind Besucher*innen herzlich auf den Campus der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar eingeladen.

Record Number of Participants at the Bauhaus Spring School 2025

From 27 February to 7 March, the Bauhaus Spring School will attract students from all over Europe for its fourth year. With 226 participants from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and its European partner universities, this year’s international short programme has a record number of enrolments. In ten interdisciplinary courses on architecture and urbanism, art and design, and media and culture, participants will have the chance to work creatively together and engage in intercultural networking. Guests are warmly invited to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus for the final presentation on 7 March beginning at 2 pm.

Consecutive Successes: Europäischen Medienkultur Graduate Receives German-Franco University Award of Excellence

For the third time in a row, an alumna of the binational Europäische Medienkultur (EMK) degree programme at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has received the Franco-German University (DFH) Excellence Award: Emilia Terodde was recognised this year for her Bachelor's thesis, »Hörbare Abwesenheit. Der Sound als Träger der Erinnerung in ›The Zone of Interest‹«. The award ceremony was held on 30 January 2025 at the French Embassy in Berlin.

BAUHAUS4EU: European Alliance of Ten Universities Led by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Given Starting Signal

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, together with nine European partner universities, officially launched its »BAUHAUS4EU« University Alliance on 1 January 2025. The Alliance will be funded by the European Union with a total of 14.4 million euros as part of the ERASMUS+ »European Universities« programme. The goal is to establish a European campus that offers integrated education and research programmes and ensures seamless mobility for over 124,000 students and 10,000 staff members.

Bauhaus4EU Student Council Convenes for Inaugural Meeting at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

From 6 to 9 November 2024, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar hosted the first meeting of the Bauhaus4EU Student Council. Student representatives from all nine countries within the Bauhaus4EU university alliance met to lay the foundation for active and sustainable collaboration while formulating shared visions.

Markus Weisbeck, Professor of Graphic Design in the Visual Communication degree programme, and Björn Dahlem, Professor of Sculpture, Object, Installation in Fine Art, travelled to Tainan University of Technology (TUTech) in October 2024. The purpose of the visit was to deepen the cooperation that has existed between the two professorships and the Taiwanese university since 2023.

BAUHAUS.INSIGHTS: How is the social transformation of Germany perceived in Bangladesh?

The city of Khulna in southern Bangladesh lies on two tributaries of the Ganges. Khulna is currently battling major waste issues, including huge amounts of plastic that get washed into the city from the rivers and further into the sea. Since 2021, scientists from the Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) have been working with colleagues from the Environmental Engineering Department at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Eckhard Kraft investigating how to avoid waste in the long term and how to implement a sustainable waste management system in Khulna.
