Am Freitag, 29. September 2023, wurde die fünfte und damit letzte Episode der Ausstellungsreihe »POWER HOUSE«, die anlässlich des 100-jährigen Jubiläums der ersten Bauhaus-Ausstellung im Schiller-Museum Weimar stattfindet, eröffnet. Der Fotograf Jannis Uffrecht war dabei und hat die tolle Atmosphäre in Bildern eingefangen.

On Friday, 29 September 2023, we opened the fifth and thus last episode of the exhibition series »POWER HOUSE«, which takes place on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the first Bauhaus exhibition in the Schiller Museum Weimar. Our photographer Jannis Uffrecht was there and captured the great atmosphere in pictures.

This year is the first time that the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is a partner of the ACHAVA Festspiele Thüringen. As part of this cooperation, a discussion series with Shoah survivors and their descendants, speakers from Israel and Germany, and instructors and students from the University will take place on Thursday, 5 October 2023 from 2 to 6 pm. A celebration will follow on the University campus to kick off the new semester at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and to mark the official beginning of the ACHAVA Festspiele Thüringen.

On Tuesday 26 September 2023, the Inauguration Ceremony for Prof. Peter Benz as President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar was held in the Audimax. In front of a full auditorium, Thuringia’s Minister of Science Wolfgang Tiefensee officially appointed the new President. Numerous University members and guests attended Prof. Benz’s inaugural speech on »Being Free«.

Die Gründerwerkstatt neudeli, die erste Anlaufstelle für alle Gründungsinteressierten an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, veröffentlicht am 29. September 2023 die erste Folge des Podcasts »Auf eigenen Wegen«. In dem Format berichten Alumni der künstlerisch-gestalterischen Studiengänge, wie sie in die Selbstständigkeit gestartet sind.

Für seine herausragende Masterarbeit zum Thema »Quantification of opening’s irregularity for unreinforced masonry facades using finite element and equivalent frame method« wurde Absolvent und DAAD-Stipendiat M.Sc. Daniel Agudelo Gomez von der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Erdbebeningenieurwesen und Baudynamik (DGEB) geehrt. Die Vergabe des Förderpreises erfolgte im Rahmen der 18. D-A-CH-Tagung, welche vom 14. bis zum 15. September 2023 in Kiel stattfand.

Am 27. September 2023 verabschiedet sich Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dipl.-Des. Bernd Rudolf nach über 40jähriger Tätigkeit an der Fakultät Architektur und Urbanistik in den Ruhestand. Im Gespräch mit Gabriela Oroz lässt er diese Jahre Revue passieren und blickt auf die Abschiedsausstellung, in der er ausgewählte Projekte aus seiner Zeit in Weimar zusammengestellt hat.

To mark this occasion, the artistic research project »Listening to the World – 100 Years of Radio« is exploring listening as a global phenomenon. Sound artists and researchers as well as radio practitioners and theorists came together in Montevideo (March 2023) and Manila/Sagada (August 2023) to examine the past, present and future of regional and transregional listening during workshops. On 21 and 22 October 2023, the preliminary outcomes of the cooperative project between the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Goethe-Institut and Deutschlandfunk Kultur will now be presented at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin.

Die systematische Analyse von Ingenieurkonstruktionen ermöglicht es, das Verhalten von Strukturen vorherzusagen, Schwachstellen frühzeitig zu identifizieren und Verbesserungen vorzunehmen. Welche Veränderungen hat die Digitale Revolution bei der Untersuchung und Bewertung von Strukturen mit sich gebracht und wie wirken sich diese auf die Entwicklung, Konstruktion und Wartung von Gebäuden und Infrastrukturanlagen aus? Am 28. und 29. September 2023 laden die Materialforschungs- und -prüfanstalt (MFPA) und das Institut für Strukturmechanik (ISM) der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar zum fachlichen Austausch in die Albrecht-Dürer-Straße 2 ein. Interessierte können sich noch bis zum 25. September anmelden.

Am Freitag, 22. September 2023, 16 Uhr, beschließt die vierte Episode der Jubiläumsausstellung »POWER HOUSE« im Schiller-Museum ihre Laufzeit mit einer besonderen Veranstaltung: Die partizipative Klangperformance »walk in waves« des Kollektivs »rundfunkorchestra« bezieht sowohl die Besucher*innen als auch den gesamten Ausstellungsraum ein. Das technische Herzstück der Performance, der »Funkstern Plus«, wurde jüngst vom Freistaat Sachsen ausgezeichnet. Interessierte sind herzlich eingeladen, sich zu beteiligen.
