Vor 70 Jahren wurde die Fakultät Bauingenieurwesen an der Hochschule für Architektur und Bauwesen (HAB), heute Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, gegründet. Seither haben sich die Anforderungen der Baubranche stark verändert. Um Herausforderungen wie der Energie- und Klimakrise, der Digitalen Revolution und dem Fachkräftemangel im Ingenieurbereich zu begegnen, wird die Fakultät ab April 2024 unter verändertem Namen strategisch neu ausgerichtet. Zukünftig setzen Forschung und Lehre verstärkt auf nachhaltiges und ressourcenschonendes Bauen.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering was established 70 years ago at the University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (HAB), which is now known as the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Since then, the requirements of the construction industry have changed considerably. To address challenges such as the energy and climate crisis, the digital revolution, and the shortage of skilled labour in the engineering sector, the faculty will undergo a strategic realignment under a new name starting in April 2024. In the future, there will be a growing emphasis on sustainable and resource-efficient construction in research and education.

From 6 to 13 April 2024, an interdisciplinary team of current students and graduates from the fields of architecture, Fine Art and media will present various interdisciplinary works on the question of an architecture of the personal space of the participants. During the exhibition period, there will be a programme of performances and an artist talk.

Im Jahr 2024 feiert das Institut für Europäische Urbanistik (IfEU) an der Fakultät Architektur und Urbanistik der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar sein 20-jähriges Bestehen.

In 2024, the Institute for European Urban Studies (IfEU) at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the Bauhaus-Universität will be celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Eine Vorlesungsreihe an der Fakultät Architektur und Urbanistik stellt im Sommersemester jeweils donnerstags die historische Entwicklung der Parlamentsbauten und die damit verbundene Entwicklung des architektonischen Raumes vor. Die Vorträge von Prof. em. Karl-Heinz Schmitz richten sich primär an Studierende des Masterstudiengangs Architektur, sind aber auch für interessierte Gäste innerhalb und außerhalb der Universität offen.

Welche Maßnahmen wären nötig, um bezahlbaren und qualitativ hochwertigen Wohnraum für untere und mittlere Einkommensschichten zu schaffen und zu erhalten? Mit dieser Frage beschäftigt sich eine an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar verfasste Studie, welche im Auftrag der Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung erstellt und heute veröffentlicht wurde.

Mit der Wiedereröffnung der Weimarer Parkhöhle am 21. März ab 15 Uhr kehrt auch das beliebte Erdbebenmessgerät der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar an seinen angestammten Platz zurück. Nach zwei Jahren Umbauphase durch die Klassik-Stiftung Weimar ist der Seismograph des Erdbebenzentrums (EDAC) nun auch wieder für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich.

Kaum erwarten kann das Studierendenteam der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar die nächste Woche, in der am kommenden Donnerstag, 21. März 2024, endlich die Leipziger Buchmesse eröffnet. Mit einem ambitionierten Messestand, an dem das Team aus verschiedenen Fakultäten in den letzten Monaten intensiv gearbeitet hat, beteiligt sich die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar erstmals seit 2019 wieder an der Buchmesse. Im Ausstellungsbereich der Kunsthochschulen präsentiert sie unter dem Titel »Even more reading, even more writing. Neues Schreiben – neues Lesen« vier Tage lang einen ausgesprochen interaktiven Stand.

The student team from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is eagerly anticipating the opening of the Leipzig Book Fair next Thursday, 21 March 2024. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is set to make its first appearance at the book fair since 2019, showcasing an ambitious exhibition stand that has been the culmination of intensive collaboration among team members from various faculties over the past few months. In the art colleges’ exhibition area, for four days there will be a highly interactive stand entitled »Even more reading, even more writing. Neues Schreiben – neues Lesen (New writing – new reading)«.

Vom 26. Februar bis zum 2. März 2024 reisten Vertreter*innen der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar nach Addis Abeba, um sich vor Ort mit Akteur*innen aus der Bauindustrie, dem öffentlichen Sektor, der Wissenschaft und Zivilgesellschaft über einen nachhaltigen und florierenden städtischen Wandel in Äthiopien auszutauschen. Ziel der gemeinsam mit dem »Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development« (EiABC) ausgerichteten Konferenz »Building a Resilient Infrastructure (BRI) - Towards Sustainable Urban Transition« war die internationale Vernetzung, um konkrete Maßnahmen und Aktionspläne für Äthiopiens Zukunft zu entwickeln.

Vom 20. März bis 29. April 2024 stellen Architekturstudierende der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar ihre Arbeiten aus dem städtebaulichen Entwurfsstudio »Tesla & Paintball. Gewerbegebiet Leipzig Neu-Lindenau« in Leipzig aus. Die an der Professur Stadt Raum Entwerfen entstandenen Arbeiten aus dem Wintersemester 2023/24 fokussieren sich an einem 17m² großen Modell im Maßstab 1:200 auf die Potenziale des Gewerbegebietes für ein zukunftsfähiges Miteinander.

Vom 21. bis 24. März 2024 präsentiert sich die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar unter dem Motto »Even more reading. Even more writing« auf der Leipziger Buchmesse. Mit dabei ist das Projekt »Interactive Cubes«, eine mediale Plattform für interaktive Videospiel- und Lernanwendungen. Im Zentrum stehen mehrere Würfel, die von den Messegästen selbst getestet werden können und welche spielerisch digitale und analoge Buchstabenwelten verbinden.

From 21 to 24 March 2024, The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be showcasing its offerings at the Leipzig Book Fair under the theme »Even more reading. Even more writing«. Thuringia’s innovation drivers are focussing on sustainable building materials, recycling and closed-loop material cycles. The »Thuringian Materials Day« industry event on 11 March 2024 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will feature keynote speeches, poster pitches and an industry exhibition. Participation is free of charge.

The international short-term programme began in January 2024 with online courses and will now continue with a nine-day in-person phase in Weimar.
