Vom 18. bis 19. April 2024 veranstaltet das bauhaus.institut für experimentelle Architektur (bauhaus.ifex) das XXIV. Modellprojekteforum »Reflective Urban Practice«. 17 Studierende und acht Praxispartner des internationalen Masterstudiengangs »Integrated Urban Development and Design« (IUDD) stellen an zwei Tagen aktuelle Projekte der Stadtentwicklung aus Praxis und Forschung im Oberlichtsaal der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar vor.

Vom 26. April bis 14. Juni 2024 widmet sich die Ausstellung »Gildenhall 1921 – 2024: Siedlungskultur am Ruppiner See. Arbeiten Wohnen Leben« den lebensreformerischen Ansätzen des Arbeitsrats für Kunst, des Deutschen Werkbundes und des frühen Bauhauses. Zur Ausstellungseröffnung am 26. April, 15 Uhr, im Foyer der Universitätsbibliothek sprechen Dr. Frank Simon-Ritz, Direktor der Universitätsbibliothek, sowie Bauhaus-Experte Michael Siebenbrodt. Die Autor*innen und Kurator*innen Brigitte Kochta und Matthias Frinken führen in die Ausstellung ein.

Am 10. April läutete die »Fakultät Bau- und Umweltingenieurwissenschaften« (kurz: Bau und Umwelt) das Sommersemester 2024 im Audimax der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar ein. Gemeinsam mit hunderten Gästen zelebrierten Forschende, Lehrende und Studierende das 70. Jubiläum sowie die Neuausrichtung der Fakultät in einem bunten, geselligen Rahmen.

From 24 April to 11 June 2024, students and external artists are exhibiting works that explore the possibilities of a new beginning under the title »zero is the moon«. Interested parties are cordially invited to the opening on Tuesday, 23 April 2024, 6 pm, in the temporary venue of the »nova space« – the University Gallery of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar – at Berkaer Straße 11!

Am Dienstag, 9. April 2024, 18.30 Uhr, eröffnet Ewa Majewska, feministische Kulturtheoretikerin und außerordentliche Professorin an der SWPS-Universität in Warschau, die Ringvorlesung im Sommersemester 2024. Weiterhin werden in der Reihe Philipp Oswalt, Sharon MacDonald, Bengü Kocatürk-Schuster, Alia Mossallam, Jörn Düwel, Marion Steiner, Tilman Walther, Tuuli Lähdesmäki, Sophie Stackmann, Uta Bretschneider und Ariella Azoulay an den Standorten des Graduiertenkollegs in Berlin, Weimar und Erfurt vortragen.

Vom 8. April bis 27. Mai 2024 wird im Foyer der Universitätsbibliothek Bauhaus-Universität Weimar eine Ausstellung über das immaterielle Kulturerbe in Thüringen zu sehen sein. Zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung am 8. April, 17 Uhr, sind Interessierte herzlich eingeladen.

That was the 2024 Leipzig Book Fair: From 21 to 24 March, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar was represented for the first time since 2019. A highly interactive stand titled »Even more reading, even more writing. Neues Schreiben – neues Lesen«, designed by a team of ambitious students, was staged in the exhibition area for art schools.

On Thursday 11 April, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will launch its 2024 focal point »Demokratie stärken«. All university members are warmly invited to have a look at current projects, exchange ideas and help generate new ideas at the Bauhaus.Atelier from 3 to 5 pm.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering was established 70 years ago at the University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (HAB), which is now known as the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Since then, the requirements of the construction industry have changed considerably. To address challenges such as the energy and climate crisis, the digital revolution, and the shortage of skilled labour in the engineering sector, the faculty will undergo a strategic realignment under a new name starting in April 2024. In the future, there will be a growing emphasis on sustainable and resource-efficient construction in research and education.

From 6 to 13 April 2024, an interdisciplinary team of current students and graduates from the fields of architecture, Fine Art and media will present various interdisciplinary works on the question of an architecture of the personal space of the participants. During the exhibition period, there will be a programme of performances and an artist talk.

In 2024, the Institute for European Urban Studies (IfEU) at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the Bauhaus-Universität will be celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Eine Vorlesungsreihe an der Fakultät Architektur und Urbanistik stellt im Sommersemester jeweils donnerstags die historische Entwicklung der Parlamentsbauten und die damit verbundene Entwicklung des architektonischen Raumes vor. Die Vorträge von Prof. em. Karl-Heinz Schmitz richten sich primär an Studierende des Masterstudiengangs Architektur, sind aber auch für interessierte Gäste innerhalb und außerhalb der Universität offen.

Mit der Wiedereröffnung der Weimarer Parkhöhle am 21. März ab 15 Uhr kehrt auch das beliebte Erdbebenmessgerät der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar an seinen angestammten Platz zurück. Nach zwei Jahren Umbauphase durch die Klassik-Stiftung Weimar ist der Seismograph des Erdbebenzentrums (EDAC) nun auch wieder für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is set to make its first appearance at the book fair since 2019, showcasing an ambitious exhibition stand that has been the culmination of intensive collaboration among team members from various faculties over the past few months. In the art colleges’ exhibition area, for four days there will be a highly interactive stand entitled »Even more reading, even more writing. Neues Schreiben – neues Lesen (New writing – new reading)«.

Vom 20. März bis 29. April 2024 stellen Architekturstudierende der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar ihre Arbeiten aus dem städtebaulichen Entwurfsstudio »Tesla & Paintball. Gewerbegebiet Leipzig Neu-Lindenau« in Leipzig aus. Die an der Professur Stadt Raum Entwerfen entstandenen Arbeiten aus dem Wintersemester 2023/24 fokussieren sich an einem 17m² großen Modell im Maßstab 1:200 auf die Potenziale des Gewerbegebietes für ein zukunftsfähiges Miteinander.

From 21 to 24 March 2024, The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be showcasing its offerings at the Leipzig Book Fair under the theme »Even more reading. Even more writing«. This will include the »Interactive Cubes« project, a media platform designed for interactive video games and learning applications. The focus is on several cubes that trade fair visitors can try out that blend digital and analogue »letter worlds« in a playful manner.

The urgency of addressing global challenges such as climate change and resource scarcity underscores the importance of rethinking approaches to materials research. Thuringia’s innovation drivers are focussing on sustainable building materials, recycling and closed-loop material cycles. The »Thuringian Materials Day« industry event on 11 March 2024 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will feature keynote speeches, poster pitches and an industry exhibition.
