The city of Weimar provides information about the interim status of coronavirus prevention in Weimar
On Tuesday 3 March 2020, the city of Weimar published information about its preventative measures to combat the coronavirus, and we would like to pass this information on to you:
City of Weimar press release
Interim status of coronavirus prevention in Weimar
Coronavirus tests (so-called smears) and the Health Department hotline have proven their worth in the first few days. »The measures that we have been implementing since the middle of last week have ensured that coronavirus prevention is operating as planned«, Mayor Peter Kleine explained. »We have pooled resources quickly to ensure that we are well-prepared for the coronavirus in Weimar«.
At the time of publication (03.03.2020, 10 am), 36 people had been tested by the Health Department in Weimar. Domestic isolation was arranged for all persons. Seven of the cases tested negatively for the virus. The test results are pending for all other cases and some results are expected to be received today. General practitioners are also conducting tests. The results are to be sent to the Health Department if the results are positive. Reporting negative results is not mandatory.
The Weimar Health Department hotline (03643 / 762-555) has so far been in high demand – and not only by Weimar residents. Up to 80 calls are received on weekdays, fewer on weekends. In addition to the general telephone information about possible coronavirus infections, it has also been helpful in assessing in which cases testing is advised. »The Weimar measures have now also been implemented in other municipalities. This shows that here in Weimar, we did the right thing at the right time«, medical officer Dr. Isabelle Oberbeck emphasised.
School entry health examinations restarted
School entry health examinations will once again be taking place starting on Tuesday 3 March 2020. If appointments have to be postponed due to the current situation, parents will be contacted personally.
The Health Department also recommends that residents adhere to the following general precautions:
– Wash your hands often and thoroughly
– Do not touch your face with your hands
– Sneeze into your elbow
– Keep your distance from others (approx. 1 to 2 metres)
