Round Tables on Performative Design Processes in the Research Project »IN TUNE«

As part of the research project IN TUNE: Performing Material Attunement for Post-Authorial (Architectural) Design Practices, two public round tables will take place on Monday, February 16, and Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 6.30 – 8 p.m. each evening. International designers and architects will discuss performative and material-based approaches in architecture and design, both on site and online.

How do design processes change when materials, bodies, and space are understood as active co-creators? This question lies at the centre of the two public round tables within the IN TUNE research project.

Across both evenings, international designers and architects will share insights into their practice and discuss how they work with materials, respond to them, and develop new forms of designing through performative processes. The discussions will focus on questions of perception, attunement, and the interplay between body, material, and space.

On Monday, February 16, the round table brings together designer and researcher Amandine David (Brussels), architect Breg Horemans (Brussels), artist and designer Jakob Niemann (Vienna), and textile designer Magdalena Sophie Orland (Leipzig). The round table on Tuesday, February 17, features fashion and material designer Johanna Hehemeyer-Cürten (Berlin), designer Joe Johnson (London), and designer Zoe Jo Rae (Oslo). Both evenings will be moderated by Mira Müller (Faculty of Art and Design) and Dr. Mara Trübenbach (Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism).

The round tables will be held in a hybrid format, taking place on site at the Oberlichtsaal in the main building of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and online via BigBlueButton.
