New Presidium team at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar: Senate appoints three new vice presidents
On Wednesday, 7 June 2023, the Senate of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar followed the proposals made by President Prof. Peter Benz and appointed three new vice presidents. Dr. Simon Frisch was elected Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ulrike Kuch Vice President for Social Transformation and Prof. Dr. Timon Rabczuk Vice President for Research and Projects for a term lasting three years. The three new members of the Presidium will begin leading the university together with President Prof. Peter Benz and Chancellor Dr. Horst Henrici with immediate effect.
»I am very grateful for the many affirmations from the university, which show just how many university members are willing to get involved and to assume responsibility within the Presidium. This enabled me to propose an interesting, unconventional and reform-oriented team for the next Presidium and I am delighted that the Bauhaus-Universität’s Senate went along with my proposals. The new leadership team will get to work immediately with enthusiasm and energy, and develop an action plan over the summer months to further strengthen the position of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar as an internationally relevant model of contemporary research, art and teaching with a social impact,« said President Prof. Peter Benz of his proposed candidates.
On the President’s initiative, an internal call for applications was published for the vice presidencies, which was open to all university members. After speaking with all of the candidates, he submitted his proposals to the Senate, which agreed to all three with a clear majority in a secret ballot.
