The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar celebrates the opening of the new Campus.Office
»The Campus.Office is an example of architecture that fosters communication,« said Prof. Dr. Gerd Zimmermann, vice-chancellor of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. This afternoon he officially presented the newly redesigned Campus.Office to numerous guests.
There is plenty to celebrate – a new name, a redesigned building – right at the heart of the campus. In the past, the Departments of Study and Instruction and International Affairs were located at different places in Weimar. Now they are going to be working much closer together at the Campus.Office at Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 15. The newly renovated building is situated across from the main building on the pulse of university life.
In the Campus.Office reception area, students can find all kinds of information about studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. In addition to a permanently staffed reception desk, computer workstations are also available for students or potential applicants who are interested in the university or wish to download application forms. Student advising, student marketing and the careers services are also located on the ground floor.
Product Design students were in charge of designing the reception area of the new service centre. Under the supervision of Prof. Heiko Bartels and the artistic staff member Welf Oertel, the students were able to put their concepts into practice and experiment – from the initial idea and concept development to the finished design of the foyer. »Made by students for students – a stroke of genius!« Prof. Dr. Gerd Zimmermann said, admiring the foyer.
The International Office, located on the first floor, is responsible for advising students and employees who are interested in studying abroad or initiating international collaboration. The staff is also responsible for assisting international students, researchers and artists at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The section for International Strategic Cooperation and the Bauhaus Summer School are also situated there. »Bison«, a German acronym for Advising, Information and Service Online, also has its office on the first floor.
The Study and Instruction department, the section for Continuing Science Education and the Student Office are all located on the second floor.
