5.5. Jun.-Prof. Katharina @ Bauhaus Master Lecture

After many years, the professorship for »Typography and Type Design« has now been filled once again. As part of the »Bauhaus Master Lectures«, we are delighted to mark this occasion with a lecture by the new assistant professor, Katharina Köhler. Öffentlicher Abendvortrag: Wohnen im Hochhaus als Spiegelbild gesellschaftlicher Transformation

In einem öffentlichen, englischsprachigen Abendvortrag beleuchtet Prof. Dr. Ute Lehrer am 7. Mai 2026, ab 18.15 Uhr, am Beispiel des kanadischen Toronto globale Hochhaus-Trends als dominierende Wohnform des 21. Jahrhunderts. Der Vortrag findet im Rahmen der Tagung des DFG-Graduiertenkollegs »Gewohnter Wandel« und des Instituts für Europäische Urbanistik an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar statt.

Public Evening Lecture: Living in High-Rises Reflects Social Transformation

A public evening lecture hosted by Prof. Ute Lehrer at 6:15 pm on 7 May 2026 will examine global trends in the 21st century’s dominant form of housing – high-rise living – using the example of Toronto, Canada. The lecture is being held as part of the conference organised by the Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) »Gewohnter Wandel« research training group and the Institute for European Urban Studies at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

This semester’s first Sonic Talk, hosted by the chairs of »Acoustic Ecologies and Sound Studies« and »Experimental Radio«, invites audiences to a special evening: renowned composer and researcher Curtis Roads presents a multichannel audio and video concert together with video artist Brian O’Reilly. The event takes place in collaboration with the chair of Electroacoustic Composition and Sound Art.

German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) in Weimar: Increasing the Role of Universities in Democracy Societies

The Annual German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), which will be held in Weimar on 28 April 2026, will be focussing on the role of universities in a democratic society. HRK President Prof. Walter Rosenthal will be welcoming the heads of universities from across Germany as well as a number of guests from the fields of science, education, and politics. The guest of honour for the event will be Thuringia’s Minister President Mario Voigt.

New publication in the Freigeist Fellowship: Marlon Miguel releases Falatório / Chatter

Marlon Miguel, Postdoctoral Fellow in the Freigeist project “Madness, Media, Milieus” sponsored by the Volkswagen Foundation at the Faculty of Media at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, has published his monograph Falatório / Chatter. The book was developed within the framework of the research project “Madness, Media, Milieus. Reconfiguring the Humanities in Postwar Europe.”
