5.5. Jun.-Prof. Katharina @ Bauhaus Master Lecture
After many years, the professorship for »Typography and Type Design« has now been filled once again. As part of the »Bauhaus Master Lectures«, we are delighted to mark this occasion with a lecture by the new assistant professor, Katharina Köhler. Everyone is warmly invited to the Van de Velde Building on Tuesday, 5 May 2026, at 6.30 pm.
Katharina Köhlers design practice operates at the intersection of type, typography, and graphic design. It is informed by a strong awareness of their histories and cultural context, and is fundamentally collaborative, engaging with structural and social conditions as well as environmental challenges. She has been working as independent designer since 2011 for clients, such as Haus der Kunst, Wüstenrot Foundation and the Gallery of Contemporary Art Leipzig. She is co-founder of the independent digital type foundry Camelot Type. Her voluntary activities include her active role in the Leipzig Art Association (2017–2022), and the realignment of the Open Book Society and the first edition of Forms of Publication (since 2022). She has been teaching since 2015, including as interim professor at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design and artistic associate at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.
The lecture will be held in German.
