Just Like in the Days of Gropius and Muche: Bauhaus-Parade on 31 August
On 31 August, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Kunstfest Weimar extend a joint invitation: Starting at 7 pm, the Bauhaus-Parade will be making its way from campus through Park an der Ilm to the Haus am Horn.
Whether with costumes, hats, signs created in the accompanying workshops, or without – the Bauhaus-Parade is sure to be a colourful highlight of the Bauhaus Weeks, a historical event that the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is reviving together with the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Kunstfest Weimar at its original location to celebrate the anniversary of the first Bauhaus Exhibition in 1923.
Artistic installations and yoga sessions will accompany the parade. The Haus am Horn itself, which was constructed 100 years ago as part of the Bauhaus Exhibition as the only Bauhaus experimental house, will be included in the programme through student-organized façade projections. The projections explore the contemporary private and shared aspects of living.
Guests will also be able to digitally experience the first Bauhaus architecture at Haus am Horn on the occasion of its 100th anniversary. A new feature in the App Weimar+ allows selected furnishings and objects from the1920s to be virtually analysed from all angles. The selected objects include a carpet in the main living area, a pull-out electric wall lamp, the bed in the study, an electric hairdryer in the boudoir, a children’s toy cabinet designed by Alma Siedhoff-Buscher, as well as the famous Bogler food storage containers.
The app’s augmented reality mode also allows users to virtually bring furnishings home with them, place them where ever they wish, move them around, and experience a modern translation of Bauhaus design within their own homes.
On 30 August, from 5 to 8 pm,costumes and props for the Bauhaus-Parade designed and created. Textile, paper and wood are the materials which will be focused on. Workshops are open to all interested parties. Location: Bauhaus.Atelier, Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 6A
